Past
Bandfic; 214 words; PG-13. It's the end of an era, the beginning of another.
When Jaejoong and the others win the lawsuit, they put everything behind them and forget. This is a new chapter, a new page - they should be moving on now. But when Changmin brings up the topic of what might have been during those months, of what could have been of them when they were separated by the management and controversies. Jaejoong avoids the topic like the plague, worrying his lips behind his cup of tea.
"You could have called, used another line or something."
"I sent an email."
"Just once," Changmin quickly replies, "when you sent that valentines' greeting."
"It's all in the past now, Changmin. Can't we all move on?" Yunho says as he slumps against the couch. Junsu nods in agreement. Yoochun looks over his shoulder, puts out his cigarette. Changmin cocks his head and sighs.
"Move on. Move along, now."
The doorbell rings and Junsu quickly gets to his feet. "Pizza's here!" Then they assume their places and duties - Yoochun and Yunho go out to buy some chips, while Changmin looks for their DVD of Finding Nemo. Jaejoong remains seated on the couch and he fishes his iPhone from his pocket, wondering if he should have sent all those 21 drafts in his email or sent just one of them, at all.
Weatherball
Jaejoong/Changmin; 444 words; PG-13. Changmin goes for a change of heart, but it's just not his style.
The rain's been pouring so hard these past few days and Changmin curses the gods for the lack of dry ground. "Great. Just great. Here I was, planning something "special" for Jaejoong hyung and I, and it rains even harder than before. Are the gods against me? The one day I plan to be all nice, the gods decide to tell me, 'Oh no, changmin. You can stay snarky and mean and your old Changmin self'. Jeez." Changmin rolls his eyes and plops down on the couch, throwing his head back. "I do not understand."
"Must be pretty awful," says Yoochun who's had his third cup of coffee. Changmin looks over his back to give him a forced smile.
"Thanks, hyung. That's sweet."
"When the gods gave away snark, Changmin got greedy and got all of 'em," Junsu mumbles halfway through chewing his burger. From beside him, Yoochun laughs. Junsu turns his attention back to Changmin, saying, "Look. If you want so much to express how you feel, then go tell! You don't have to take him somewhere grand or something."
"For the record, I was just going to take him to Pizza Hut. And I can't help it, okay."
"Not my problem anymore, kid. I guess you were born that way. Poor you."
"Better than being you," Changmin scoffs and, at this point, Junsu crushing whatever's left in his burger with his right hand. Yoochun pats him lightly on the back, saying, "Changmin's just so repressed; he needs to get off. You know, like hollywood artists. Just let him be." Changmin hits himself with a throw pillow repeatedly when he hears Yoochun's statement. Changmin stops when Jaejoong comes out of the bathroom, clothed in his supposed 'regular clothes' that always make him look as if he's going to have a photoshoot.
"Did I miss anything?"
"The burger," Junsu says, holding up the burger wrapper. Jaejoong raises an eyebrow at him.
There are times when Changmin wants to turn off the snark in him, really, but then that would mean him being a lot less like himself. So instead, he tucks it behind his tongue when he talks to Jaejoong, calmly, politely, as if he's the same old Changmin Jaejoong met three years back.
"Hyung, want a burger? My treat." It comes out unceremoniously; it almost sounds foreign to him, but the smile on Jaejoong's lips and that distinct glint in his eye isn't something new. Jaejoong takes a deep breath, throws the towel on the couch, puts on his coat and takes a few steps forward.
"What are you waiting for? Let's go!"
Changmin opens the door for Jaejoong when they go out.
