My cat has a sudden and inexplicable blanket phobia. She avoids my bed like the plague. If I bring her anywhere near that part of the room she tears my arms to pieces and goes running out the door.  My other cat is fine. I can detect no evil presence lurking beneath my matress. So what's the problem?

Er... maybe. But as my cat was awake when she first started to freak out, I expect it wasn't a dream. Just the start of some strange, corrosive disease of the mind.

Another thing I thought of was, maybe it got a shock from static electricity there. They can be quite powerful sometimes, and would be somewhat alarming for a cat.

Oh, that's smart. Maybe something did shock her -- but what? *contemplates matress* She's been acting better lately. Perhaps some day she will once again wake me at 4:00 am by sitting on my face. I rather hope she never recovers. :)
