OH MY... I... /awestruck/ It's really really incredible *___* I can't believe how much it looks like a real Abe @_@ Now I feel even guiltier for enjoying Abe/Mihashi so much (so young!). But that really is his expression, so perfect! cough I can't wait to see possible future Furi portraits >.<

*flails a bit*

Oh, wow, this looks absolutely amazing. *___* I especially love all the details you've put into this painting: the depth of the eyes, the lips...this is going to sound kind of weird, but I even love how you've painted the neck, not as a smooth column, but with folds/wrinkles/texture. And I love the freckle under his eye and the freckle by his ear, and omg, there are just so many amazing details on his face and I can't get over it. *stares some more* I cannot wait to see more Oofuri fanart from you (I'm especially curious as to how Mihashi will look in a realistic form ;)). <333

Heh, I'm glad you noticed all the fine details, which is something I always get carried away with. Maybe it's because I do tend to do portraits more than anything else and I'm trying to convey everything I need in that small frame. Details also help to make the skin look less flat. I usually don't include stuff like fancy jewelry or fancy clothing because the focus is on the character, so I guess the simpler the portrait, the more lively it can become to people who view it. At least, that's how I see it :)

"I'm especially curious as to how Mihashi will look in a realistic form ..."

I was thinking about that as well when I read your comment, and it struck me how difficult it can be to translate Mihashi in realistic form. Then it also occurred to me that his rendering in manga/anime form is so perfect because his facial expression is so out there! He's almost like a caricature. Mihashi is definitely a character that I can only paint when inspiration strikes, like this is how I see him in that moment. Right now I'm over-thinking things ( ... )

I find that the details make the character look so much more real, rather than a perfectly Photoshopped figure. :) I was looking at some of your other paintings and I think I am somewhat in love with the way you paint hands. They have folds! And veins<3! (Am I coming across as some sort of wacko who is overly enamoured with skin texture and veins? XD;;)

Well, I certainly can't wait to see a realistic Mihashi! :D I wonder which expression he will have: his infamous chicken!face, his crying face with the big, watery eyes...?

Heh, thank you ^^; Also, these things take time :) You get there with time and experience, so paint, paint and paint.
