I wish the people that i have to deal with at centrelink would pull their heads out of their arses and actually try to help the people that come to them. WEll atleast the ones that really nedd help anyway. They can't seem to do that.
But i'm sure you're not one of those centrelink people...

Yeah, I do social work, and they do really amazing work in Centrelink, especially considering the policy coming from government is very strict and hostile, and creates lots of value conflict. Centrelink doesn't make any policy, it comes from like 10 different federal government departments, and the people at Centrelink really are doing the best they can, and they have to put up with a lot of shit. Coming from both the working for and recipient sides does give you a totally different appreciation for whats going on there. That doesn't mean everyone gets it right all the time, or that all workers are perfect, but you gotta see where they are coming from. People don't come out of Centrelink and talk about the good stuff, like "I went in to Centrelink, and was totally satisfied", you only hear the bad stuff which is the minority.
