deeablo and
eep1313, I saw an awful movie tonight and immediately thought of you two.
Have you ever seen Kansas City Bomber?
It's a 1972 movie about the roller derby, starring Raquel Welch. Right there, you might think, "Hey, it's a movie about the roller derby and it's got Raquel Welch, it can't be all bad." But you would be horribly wrong.
The dialog makes no sense, there's not much of a plot, there's some icky kissing between RW and the guy who plays her boss, the cinematography is horrendous (there are times people are talking *when they're just out of frame*, for no good reason), and the solution for how to incorporate the RW body-double for the skating scenes was, apparently, to simply have the double bend over a lot so her hair would be in the way and it would vaguely look like Cousin It was skating.
Jodie Foster is in it for about a minute and there's a main character who could have been Amy Winehouse's hair and alcohol problem inspiration.
*shudder*
The Windy City Rollers who were in the audience tonight assured us that they're much better than that. We did have a good time treating it like a Brew 'N' View flick.
