Japan had always been one to enjoy walks. No matter the time of day, he had recently attempted to take one each day. While being on the Watch, perhaps it was a help of sorts. ...Maybe.

With everyone that had been arriving lately, the country had a lot on his mind. But one person he certainly hadn't expected to see again caught his eye, and he stared after her. Was that...? He shifted and moved after her, slowing when he caught up.

"Ah, Gracia-san...!" Did she remember? Perhaps he should have waited to see that before calling out her name like that. Well, it was too late now.

At that moment her senses were acutely aware of any and all sounds - it was survival instinct kicking in. She was in a foreign place that looked like a nightmare come to life, she had no choice but to be aware.

So when she heard her name being called out all of a sudden, Gracia wasted no time in finding out where and who it came from. A man - that was good news already! There were others around, and some who even knew who she was. Perhaps she really was in some distant part of Japan? Gracia walked towards him and offered a small smile of relief.

"Ahh, you know who I am! I've never been so glad to see another person! Tell me, where is this place? How do I return to my home? It's in Osaka, is it anywhere near here?"

He tried not to appear too visibly saddened by the realization that Gracia held no memories. He simply moved to bow in greeting. How to explain this... No matter how many times that he did, it never got easier. Linking explanation posts seemed a bit impersonal, was all.

"I apologize..." He frowns. "We are not in Japan. Though I would love to know how to return there, we are currently in another world." He brings a hand to fix his hair a bit. "Ah, it seems so sudden to say, I realize..."

Huh. Well that was a rather strange answer. First, this man who she's sure she's never met before calls out to her, then he tells her they're in another world...The redhead narrowed her eyes at his explanation and approached him again, near to invading his personal space. That wasn't even on her mind right now; all Gracia wanted to know was what was going on?

"What's sudden? Please tell me, how do you know me? What do you mean we're not in Japan? That's impossible! I don't remember going on a boat." She walks around afterwards, looking up at the dreary gray sky. She turns back to him with worry in her eyes. She looks more panicked than before.

"Who are you? Why can't I leave? Did you take me?"

"Ah, I will get to that in just a moment," He begins nervously, raising a hand both defensively and to try and keep her back a little. Even if it was Gracia, he liked his personal bubble, okay. He eventually lowers it, though, sighing.

"This city is called Discedo. Scientists were the ones who brought all of us here." A pause. "People come and leave here from different worlds and times. Sometimes they do not recall their previous stay..." He glances away.

"That seems to be the case for Gracia-san. If there are others who recognize you, realize that."

"So...I was taken? But not by you? By people called scientists?" Gracia shakes her head and walks around again, trying to piece the information together. It was so surreal, how could all of this be real?

What caught her attention the most was the last sentence - People come and leave here from different worlds and times. Sometimes they do not recall their previous stay.

She takes a deep breath and shakes her head. "A different world with different times - that sounds like it came from a storybook. If I was in this place before, I'm sure I would remember it." She shifts where she stands, eying the dirt road and the dust that came when she kicked at the ground.

"It would seem so, wouldn't it?" He frowns a bit and shifts in place. "I was here once before, but did not recall that stay. However, I do recall my last immediate stay... It is a random thing, I believe."

He watches her for a moment before bowing once more. "If Gracia-san were to truly recall, she would remember me... But since I believe she does not..." A pause.

"I am Japan. Pleased to meet you."

"That's not very fair. Why can't we remember things like that? And why can't we choose to keep those memories? The people who took us here have that sort of power?"

Gracia felt a tad bit guilty, besides feeling incredibly exhausted and unbelievably confused. The more answers she received, the more questions she had to ask. It was the complete opposite of what she thought would happen, because everything that this man was saying made no sense to her. How is that even possible? To travel to another world completely? She hadn't even traveled outside of her own country, let alone to another entirely different place!

And speaking of her country, there's one more thing adding to her confusion. Gracia blinks and tilts her head as she regards the man who knew her.

"Japan? My name is Gracia. It's nice to meet you." She blinks again. "You have the same name as the place I came from. Did you know that?"

sorry I've been so slow! asideglance June 17 2011, 14:14:41 UTC
"...It is difficult to explain their methods, but it doesn't seem possible to choose," he speaks, folding his arms with a bit of a sideglance. Right, people weren't quite used to the idea. He was quite used to that confusion, by now, though. "Yes, I am aware."

He looks back to her. "It may seem strange, but I am that place."

Out of all the strange things Gracia's heard today, this one might take the cake. And she did know all of that in another life - sadly, that life was already taken from her. So all she could do was try and process that information, with little progress as of the moment. She approaches him a bit more and shakes her head slightly in disbelief.

"But you're a person. Countries don't walk and talk. They're land. Are you trying to pull a joke on me?" It wasn't asked out of malice or hurt, but out of pure curiosity. Was she, perhaps, speaking with a crazy man?

LJ isn't exactly making it easy either!! asideglance June 19 2011, 23:41:50 UTC
"Ah, I do not joke in this way..." It was really hard to explain something that seemed so obvious to him. He would never get used to having to explain who he was. But he just sighs. "There are others like me, so perhaps you will grow used to the idea over time. I will not push it, however.

"The point is that Gracia-san is now stuck here."
