Part 2 of the stuff you can find in Spero.
We forgot to mention in the last post that you may be attacked by the occasional R.O.U.S. (
link) during your stay at Spero ♥
Shopping Mall:
There are a lot of places that feel eerie when abandoned. Churches. Schools. Neighborhoods.
But there’s nothing quite like an empty mall to really send a chill down your spine. It’s a place that’s almost always full of hustle and bustle, smiling faces, the cries of children, the ambient echo of hundreds of mouths talking at once.
Now, there’s only the sound of your own breathing.
Looting was obvious. Some of the storefront gates are closed (but that didn’t stop anyone from breaking the windows), while some are simply sitting open. Products and supplies are scattered everywhere, hardly anything is on a shelf and the floors are so covered in whatever miscellany the store was selling that you’ll really have to watch your step. A thin film of dust has settled over everything. The escalator is badly damaged and cannot be ascended.
But thankfully for you guys, not everything is gone. Clothing is one thing that’s fairly abundant, as well as shoes. The sports supplies store has everything you’d expect, but is curiously void of baseball bats and golf clubs. The few cosmetic specialty shops have a fair amount of things like soap, lotion, perfumes and so on. And the food court-- well, anything in there that hasn’t been taken is definitely not something you’d want to chance eating now.
The electronics stores are perhaps the most noticeable, because each one is full of banner and displays advertising the “Com-U.” A new way to stay in touch! Social networking at your fingertips! Stay in touch with your family! Life more organized! And the product itself can be found in various quantities.
It looks like an older, chunkier version of the communicators you use in Discedo. None of them work, but they’re obviously a precursor to what you’re using today.
Otherwise, there is some computer equipment, a few televisions, mp3 players, and also video games systems. None of it is very practical, but they might be able to be used as scrap for bigger projects.
Take your fill, you pirates. And be sure to bring the booty back for everybody.
Spero hospital:
As with the hospital at Discedo, it obviously hasn't been used in a while. But without the monsters or other characters occupying it, the Spero hospital seems even more abandoned and more forlorn. The stench of unused medicines lingers in the air. These you can gather for yourselves. It's incredibly dim inside, but you can still make out the mess and clutter of the hallways, and the stain of dried blood that coats the walls and floors.
Some patient rooms are empty, some have remnants of what looks like human bone or hair. The morgue, though it is a morgue, is eerily empty and carries a lingering smell of burnt materials. The walls of it are also blackened, as if having been burned in the past. The dark, pixely, blocked out areas on the map indicate extensive damage that prevents passage.
Though the damage is clear, there's still some medical supplies and extra sheets, etc. that are lootable. Most papers found in the building talk about the same thing: the progress of the virus, the death count (which is extremely high), the loss of staff members to the virus as well. A sense of hopelessness lingers in the notes left behind.
Office:
There is a desk, covered with various patient records. These records show that all the people are diagnosed and infected with Atropos. No names or pictures really stand out as overly important. A report also sits on the desk:
Infected patients have been running off on their own, screaming and shouting. We had to use force to restrain them. Sometimes these struggles have ended with serious injuries from the patients and the staff.
Strong sedatives have been administered for rowdy patients. Still, the occasional person escapes some time to time. It's doubtful they will come back if their symptoms are already that bad.
Medical Records room:
"Atropos"
Symptoms: Starts out like a common cold, making it difficult to detect in early stages. Symptoms of fatigue, sneezing, coughing are common signs. As it worsens, the person may faint or feel dizzy. The late stages of the virus are characterized by coughing up blood and failure of internal organs, leading to death. The time period of this virus from the initial symptoms to death is around two weeks. Due to the unpredictable nature of this virus, it causes extreme fear and anxiety in patients, occasionally leading to mental decline.
Cause: Ingesting Atropos-infected animals (most notably imported fish from Discedo) causes infection, though it has been questioned whether or not this is the virus' only means of spreading. Simply banning the import of fish and other goods from Discedo may not be enough to slow the infection rate.
Treatment: No treatment has been found as of this time.
Patient room # 208, a note left under a flower vase. The vase itself is teeming with dead flowers.

That's the second part of information! The third part won't be posted until around Tuesday or Wednesday due to Sunday apps, along with the fact we're going to let you actually GET there first to take in everything ♥;. However, feel free to ask questions and plan amongst yourselves as to how you'll tackle this new land.
