Yes. Yes it is. So you'd better eat this up like cake.
But before I go on, I am going to say this: due to things starting late, this one runs close to another plot after it -- so essentially there's two running back to back. On top of that, it may inconvenience a couple of people that got hit with the beer thing, so if it's easier for people to change back just for this event's duration, that can be done. (Because we have no clue when that's ending, and we don't want to handicap people.) We apologise, but hopefully it's manageable enough!
From the 25th of February through to the end of the 27th of February, we're going to have a lovely monster attack for the city to enjoy. But these aren't your run-of-the-mill monsters within the city running rampant... In other words, Sho Minamimoto (
whatthefactor) is gonna get bored, and summon some monsters up for everyone to enjoy.
Noise are the monsters from The World Ends With You, and are essentially oddly-coloured animals with body parts made of tattoos (the tattoo parts are generally the more dangerous parts of the body). They can only be fought and erased after two players have made a pact.
Taboo Noise are especially strong Noise that can’t be created naturally and must be refined through techniques forbidden from Reaper knowledge. Whereas regular Noise can’t attack those in a pact, Taboo Noise freely attack both Players and Reapers regardless.
Noise usually travel in groups, and not solely amongst their own type. One might run into, for example, a pack of wolves, a couple of frogs, or a combination of frogs and wolves.
NOISE LIST:
• Choirfrog |
[link]Frogs with gray feet and red eyes. To deal damage, they spring off of players and spit out bubbles, including special purple bubbles that deal high damage.
• Grunge Wolf |
[link]Wolf-type Taboo Noise. They charge at prey with a mach tackle that can temporarily paralyze the player. They travel in packs.
• Wall of Grizzly |
[link]Massive black grizzlies with tattoos for arms. They use a dual-clawed attack to tear at the player.
• Death Metal Mink |
[link]A mink that floats in midair. They twist themselves into whirlwinds and smash into the player.
• Chaoti Corehog |
[link]Hedgehog Taboo Noise that shoot a quills from their backs that detonate at random.
• Eurobeat Boomer |
[link]A black Kangaroo with tattoo legs and joey. They jump high in the air and target the player before landing. Also, their kick can penetrate any defence.
• Trance Rhino |
[link]The Taboo Rhino is capable of using its enormous horn for a succession of unrelenting attacks.
• Carcinopunk |
[link]Crab-type Taboo Noise that uses its claws and body to attack. It is also capable of producing a shield that is impervious to all attacks.
• Neoclassical Drake |
[link]Wyvern Taboo Noise that, instead of breathing fire, uses its wings and horns to attack. THEY WILL ONLY SHOW UP ON THE 27TH.
This is the best video that could be found with examples of most of the Taboo Noise. It’s 10 minutes, but there’s really no need to watch past 3:45.

This is a little different than your average monster invasion, however. For one thing, all city weapons are taken. This means that there are none in the inventory for the duration of the plot, and people's individual weapons won't show up either. However, there will be weapons to be found-- buuut I'll get there.
If your character is chipped, they start the plot with a weapon. If your character is unchipped, then they'll have to recover a weapon for themselves when it begins. The weapons that can be used/found are basically your average Silent Hill-esque starter weapons. Planks of wood, pipes, crowbars, baseball bats, whatever you can think of. Basically anything goes as long as it isn't super-fancy, but if you're unsure, then PLEASE run it past a moderator first.
Of course, there's also a punishment for not partnering up within the first day, and that's that your character turns into a small Noise for the event's duration. This means that everyone HAS to partner up, but they don't necessarily have to fight the Noise. (They just need to know where to hide from them. Taboo Noise don't follow any rules.)
If your character is planning on dying for this plot, then PLEASE let us know. We ALSO need to know who your character is going to partner up with, so comment to this post looking for people/commenting with finalised pairs. If you partner your character up with a stranger, attack strength will increase, regardless of whether the characters are chipped or not.
If one half of a partnership kicks the bucket, they won't be revived for the duration of the plot, and the partner left behind will have to choose someone else within 24 hours, so choose wisely!
SO FOR A RUNDOWN:
- comment to this post when you've finalised your character's pacts
- if your character's kicking the bucket, also let us AND your partner know. Surprise deaths are frowned on >:(
If you're wondering who will give the IC knowledge as to how to form the pacts and what else to do, Shiki Misaki @
designingly, Koki Kariya @
suckmychupa and Rhyme Bito @
orzbigbrother will give the heads up at one point or another. (Sho will just point and laugh.)
Comments, questions? Throw'em here!
