"What are you doing? Mr. Holden."
Holden couldn't help but smile a little. He felt the girl's eyes staring daggers into his back before he turned around.
"Nothing," he said casually enough, adding a small shrug for emphasis. "How was your little trip? Did you have fun?"
Lolita looked vaguely wary before replying. "It was insightful."
She paused.
"I think I may have found my answer."
"Ah, bravo to you then," he commented insincerely.
"Mm. Where is Greenie?"
"She is asleep still," Holden said. "I promise we've been taking good, good care of her."
Lolita looked away in thought.
"Do you still not trust us?"
She smiled inwardly, turning to leave on her heel. Holden then noticed the videotape peeking out of her bag, along with what looked like medical papers.
"Do not mock me, Mr. Holden."
