Backdated Discussion Log between pirates get

Who: Marco fierybluebird & Perona lolighostgirl
Where: Northern Lights Bar
When: APRIL 3rd! Backdating ftw
Rating: PG-13 for explanations of violence and gore and drinking, and maybe Marco being Marco :|
Summary: Perona's Captain died in the same battle that killed Marco's (RATHER THAT IS THE OFFICIAL STORY) so Marco isn't unsympathetic and agreed to filling her in on what happened for Marineford. One Piece spoilers for the ENTIRE Marineford Arc and some of the follow-up.
the log:

Marco let go of a breath he hadn't even realized he'd been holding. It was actually rather nice knowing that there someone in this place who knew the Whitebeard reputation. Talking about his father's death wasn't going to be easy, but fuck, it'd be a lot easier than doing it with Shanks, no matter how Red-Hair tried. What was there to say about the battle? "We lost. We went in there for one goal and we failed it." They'd gotten out alive... and given Teach's involvement no one could have counted on that. That was the real reason he had to meet the girl in person. He promised to tell Ace the truth, but Marco wasn't ready. Telling someone else, someone who hadn't fought Teach and lost, someone who didn't feel a guilt for a reason they had no good reason to -- that would make it easier when he had to tell Ace the whole story later.

He missed his father. The extra reasons felt so strange. It wasn't like he'd have ever gone to Whitebeard and asked the man how to explain such things to his crew, Marco was first division commander, it was his job, his responsibility to handle such things, and he did so with aplomb. But without his captain's guidance, without Whitebeard's giant shoulders to be able look up and rely on, the world was a much more terrifying and unfriendly place. And in that respect, even though Gecko Moria had been an enemy and Marco wasn't sorry to see him gone, he could still empathize with the pink haired girl.

[ one piece ] marco, [ one piece ] perona
