[1446? yeah it's never been the most festive house on the block.

sure, one might find some tinsel strewn about thanks to holidaycheer!drones, and there used to be a fake cutout santa thing on the roof, leering down like a soul-stealing creeper at all unfortunate enough to walk under it, but fear not! eerie santa is no more. there is now a ( Read more... )

[it wasn't difficult to spot the fire from the roof of the house that Kanna should have been living in, but hadn't rightfully done so since she'd arrived in this hellhole.

she would've been there to help him start the fire, on any other day. but that day the drones that had once been her teammates--still young, exactly as she would always remember them--had decided to drop by "in the spirit of the holidays" and she'd had to make them leave somehow.

six years, and Kanna still couldn't lay a hand on either of them-- even if it wasn't them.

a few minutes later she was climbing up onto the roof herself and wandering over to take a seat at the man's side.]

Hao-sama.

[he had seen them leave, of course - they came and went so often that it was hard not to notice them. rarely did he give them a second glance though. it wasn't that he couldn't bring himself to lay a hand on them.

he just couldn't be bothered.

snapped out of his small bout of contemplation by the sound of steps approaching, Hao tilted his head and smiled widely up at the only Hanagumi member that had made it so long.]

Kanna. The third day is tomorrow. [having to return for a day to a house of drones made his nose wrinkle in disgust, but other than that he remained perpetually cheerful]

[the woman's own features, which had been relatively calm up until this point--she was getting better at dealing with the appearance of the other two; before it would've put her in a foul mood for days after.--turned into an outright scowl at her leaders words.

the first few years in Mayfield had been smooth enough. but then Hao had hit eighteen, and suddenly he hasn't supposed to be living in the same place as her anymore.

Kanna hated it.]

Already? [really, why couldn't they have just gotten rid of the BLU bastard and made Hao her pseudo husband?]

[have a laugh at that scowl - it's the same way every time the third day rolls around, and the continuity is both amusing and something he is grateful for. ...though you'd never hear that from him.]

Aa, already. I won't be long.

[he prods at the burning mass near his feet, and for a moment he wonders if the security of the town has lessened over the years. maybe the mayor had figured most had become so broken that they would follow without question the unwritten laws they had all come to know]

[Russia isn't acknowledging Roof Hippie, just every once in a while peering out one of his boarded up windows to check and see the fire isn't spreading to his house and giving the Hippies slightly disapproving looks.]

[you aren't getting off the hook so easily

waving merrily before beckoning fattyrecluse out, saying something like 'you should enjoy the weather' and 'you're starting to mould' if he can, you know. actually be heard through the blast-zone windows.

which he is not above torching.]

[Even if he was heard, he was totally ignored because

Roof Hippies are not to be listened to.

Eventually when Russia does venture out, he briefly stops to stare up at the bonfire and shouts up at not so child-hippie.]

Is going to make hole in roof, comrade.

With something like this? Hardly.

[but the fire is only smouldering now anyway, his attention too scattered to bother with maintaining anything large.]

[Oh well hi fishing buddy. Here's your neighborly neutral country who happened to walk buy.]

Another bonfire...on the roof?

[oh hey look it's that neutral kid. waves!]

It's nice, isn't it? [ignoring the fact that now his roof kind of looks like it's on fire even though he totally has it under control.]

[Waves back! And we are going to STARE at your flaming room.]

I guess, until someone starts complaining and panicking.

People have greater worries around this time of the year, don't you think?

[makes a gesture towards the town on a whole indicating the whole 'christmas season in mayfield = bad time' thing. also ignoring that STARE. it's a cozy housefire and you know it.]
