I have tried to keep it under wraps but I am just completely taken with Beck's 'Guero.' It's really laconic in a way that has made me annoyed with his music in the past, but somehow works here. Anyone else feel as I do? I know, Beck is all mainstream, if I still lived in NYC and had to read about him walking around the East Village looking all cool

you know, it's funny, i never really thought about Beck being mainstream till you mentioned that a couple weeks ago. and it made sense. i really like his music but i tire of it quickly. i like Guero very much. so why do i tire of his music, i wonder? it's not formulaic, is it? or maybe it is. maybe his atonal voice and creative sampling becomes too familiar after a while.

still, i really dig his stuff. and guero is very good and hard not to like.

For what it's worth, I really like it, too.

What does "mainstream" mean anymore? And I'm not being facetious -- I really do wonder.

To me it means he's on SNL and Glamour and other magazines of that ilk consider him a staple hottie.
