Longe time, no poste.

No I don't know why there are extras 'e's in the subject. Or how they are pronounced. These things just happen sometimes.

However! Over the two days I have successfully procrastinated about posting to the point where I am no longer pissed off about the things I was pissed off about! And I can make a happy entry! About nostalgia and computer games.

I was feeling nostalgic, so I decided to join it again for a few days.  And  oh my god you guys! I don't know the exact percentage of nostalgic delight to good design, but there is some impressive design on that thing. Also, I am interacting in that world way more seriously than I did when I was on and addicted to this site. Mind you, the nostalgia is where it's at. Every time I remember something about that's still true, even how the scoring works on one of my favorite games. It's delightful.

Also, the world is incredibly elaborate. Like -- so when you score well in games you get "neopoints" which are money. Which you spend on food and games and such for your pet, or as capital in other games, or as capital for business. And they have measures in place against inflation. For realz.

Your pet gets hungry if you don't feed it, but it only needs to be like once a day, so the fact that it's little kids who may not be on the computer all day long doesn't get in the way. When you play with your pet with a toy? It might be grateful and enjoy it... or it might be bratty and say "Those are so boring!" or "All the other pets have more toys than me!". It's hysterical.

The way this thing is designed it has the potential to be either totally mindless, or actually fairly educational. I actually remember noticing that when I was little and managing to convince my parents that it had a degree of educational value for me. This was a fat out lie, of course; I did not at all capitalize on the educational possibilities that were there, I merely noticed them.

Also I am reading gay mystery novels. These are the things that make life bearable.

you're judging me aren't you
