Bedhead.

- Dad has still not called me to officially tell me about the heart surgery. I only know because his wife goes behind his back. I'm giving him a chance to find a way to talk about it that he's comfortable with, but I'm also chickenshit to call and confront him. I always wade into these family things and stomp around in my well-meaning way and try to make things better, and I almost always make them worse because no one else wants to be as open and communicative as I do. Not that that's always a good thing; but in this case, the family needs to be able to talk about it.

- Finally went computer shopping today. I collected $420 in Best Buy gift cards at Xmas time, plus the Squid pledged to help cover the gap to me getting my very own first new computer. It'll be a PC laptop, and I think I have it picked out. Plan to buy Tuesday. That'll be extra keen because then I'll have a laptop at each home for an ever-lighter tote bag. I think I'll just be down to carrying a bag of all my meds around wherever I go.

- Speaking of meds, I got my personalized analysis report in the mail. I paid $140 for it as recommended by my doctor. It suggests that I exercise more (!), reevaluate my nutrition (!) and avoid processed foods (!). Being that I already do all this crap, that part is very frustrating. It also laid out five new supplements I should take every day in addition to a multivitamin, which include chromium, selenium, CQ10, B12 three times a day and zinc twice a day. Alrighty. The recs are followed by many pages of techno-medi-babble and allegedly corresponding diagrams which I find impenetrable. Annoying, but my allergist has more degrees even than Trousers, so I'll give it a shot.

- Last night I had two dreams. In one I was a Bond girl. I was waiting to rendezvous at some beach for some spy type reason. The water was very shallow and calm. As it started to get dark, particles in the sand began to glow, as did a few tiny creatures. It was neat. Then something went wrong and things blew up and Bond thought I was dead. We ran into each other weeks later in some port city and were happy to be reunited. In the other dream, I was readying to play the Wicked Witch on stage and painting myself green. I actually did play the Witch in the Wizard of Oz in high school, and it was completely awesome. We're hoping to paint Miss Tasty green for our band show next weekend.

- Trousers' hand seems to be healing well. The ER bill will suck ass, though. We must get the boy some insurance.
