Self serving.

For the first time ever, I paid for a professional to do my taxes, and it was well worth the money. I had never filed my 2007 returns, so I got them done too. I actually got a refund. Freaky in an awesome way. Since I do a lot of freelancing, I always expect it to bite me in the ass, but no, not this time. What I owed for 2008 was reassuringly low, too.

I'm finally over the sinus infection and beginning the citrus challenge once again. I'm really hoping that this doesn't turn out to be a major part of my allergy/asthma problems. There are good replacements for nearly everything dairy, but what the hell do you substitute for tomatoes?

I got my hair cut on Saturday. I was hoping for a sharply angled Vidal Sassoon-style 1960s bob, but there was some miscommunication with the stylist and I ended up leaving with a very blunt, truncated bob that's slightly too safe and boring while actually being a well-executed and flattering style. She refused to charge me because I was clearly not thrilled with it. She did try very hard, but we ran out of time to fix it. I received such positive feedback from everyone (including a big erection from Trousers when he saw it, which is the best compliment) that I'm going to pay her for it tomorrow and keep it for six weeks, then go back for the pointy bob with the bump that I'd dreamed of. I also wanted to go honey blonde, but the leftover dyed hair made that tricky as well. Hopefully it'll be doable when I go back.

My sister is clearly already trying hard to be better about staying in touch, which is nice.

I would like to be having more sex. Unfortunately, Trousers has been ill or injured for the past several weeks, and with the Squid timing is as difficult as it's been for years due to our conflicting sleep schedules.
