I feel like an idiot for adopting a kitten last week. What I really wanted was Tosca back, but there is no way to replace our sweet elderly lady. A warm thing that loves us to brighten our home life. Give the kitten back! Not the right cat. Let someone else love it. Things probably seem pretty grim at the moment. I hope this passes quickly. I think you'll be a wonderful mother, but from what I have heard it's totally normal to feel an entire range of emotions about spawning a kid. Every major decision carries a lot of weight and it would be strange if you weren't having a bit of anxiety over it.

A friend of mine once wrote in her blog that happiness is wanting what you have. I always think of that when I start finding things about my life that seem craptacular. I remember that what I had before was ok, and what I have now is much better, and what I'm trying to make for myself will be better yet.
