"hella" is a norcal thing... "like" must be both, but I thought it was more a socal, valley girl thing... I definitely say "like" a lot, but I'd feel ridiculous saying hella

as a linguistics major i have to talk about people with this kind of speech all the time... we mostly make fun of them. my favorite is "like does she like LIKE him or like does she like LIKE LIKE him?"

what drives me fucking mad as when im at work and i hear "you dont have no Dr Pepper?" or "I dont want no tomatoes"

why trouble yourself with a double negative, its so confusing.

it takes every muscle in my body to hold me back from saying "...so you... DO...want tomatoes?"

Ahaha XD It's fun... Here in Italy we say "cioè" or "tipo" a lot... It's like your "like" XD... it's absolutely annoying!!

But here we have the double negative, 'cause here it's a grammar rule... so we have to say "Don't you have no Dr Pepper?" (Non hai nessuna Dr Pepper?) o "I don't want no tomatoes" (Non voglio nessun pomodoro).. But we can say "Non voglio pomodori" (I don't want tomatoes) if we say it plural... ahh, i hate my language... it's so fucking complicated... Anyways, sorry for the OT XD I just wanted to say that in english the double negative sounds kinda
awkward, it makes my ears bleed.
