The press need to lay off Britney, and I mean both the British (which are even more poisonous) and the US. She's a relatively simple girl who was shoved into the limelight whilst still an adolescent, forced to suppress her sexuality whilst selling it, never got a chance to grow up, and then does what is probably the only radical thing for her to do: get married and have babies. If she does have a complete breakdown in the near future, the constant hounding must be partially to blame. Yes, she is a singer, but the level of intrusion into her life is unbelievable. Not even Madonna in her late 80s heyday warranted the kind of bullying Spears gets.

I completely agree. The proliferation of gossip blogs, all with comments from some of the most juvenile and judgmental people has to be shaping the editorial direction, as does the fact that most of the tabloids are owned by a couple of companies. Once a company line has been decided and because the ex is obviously using them in his strategy, we really don't know what to believe and any way you look at it, it's really up to the courts to decide.

Supposedly, she's working on a new album, but if I were her, I'd strongly consider taking my millions and moving someplace where there isn't paparazzi all around. She was a manufactured star and many of those who built her are now trying to tear her down, all in the name of selling papers and adspace, while those who should be defending her appear to be silent, possibly because future recording revenue may be in question.

What I think is even more disgusting is the way her ex (yes, the allegedly "gorgeous" Timberlake) is now weighing in. After they split, he sold his story for every spit and cough to every hack going, made a video that humiliated her and shed enough crocodile tears to float the Navy. Now he claims he's "concerned." Why? Because his slimy, duplicitous behaviour five years ago may have been what started it?

There was a time when I felt sorry for Britney because of her age when she first came on the scene and the context of her lift since then.

But my sympathy for her has dried up because the fact is that she is an adult now, and not only that, but she is an adult responsible for little children. Her behavior in public is unacceptable and I don't feel that there's any excuse for it. She could make her life easier on herself by calming down and not going out so much and having skinny dipping parties with strangers and conducting interviews in which she acts like a looney tune.

It's time for her to grow up.

I hate the press but... littlezen August 19 2007, 20:48:37 UTC
So far, her kids have been photographed riding in her lap while she is driving, riding facing the wrong way in their car seats repeatedly, and holding her cigarettes. Recently, one of her bodyguards was holding one of her sons when a photographer bumped into them. So the bodyguard proceeded to hand the kid off and then beat the man to the floor while Britney and her son watched.

I truly hate the "news" media and press. I do. So unlike her, if a bunch of them were following me around I wouldn't stop the car, strip down to my undies, and go for an impromptu swim. Or shave my head in front of them, or take a baseball bat to a car in front of them, or flash my naked girly bits at them repeatedly. Especially, if I might be in a custody battle soon.

Personally, I am on the "the girl has some serious issues" side.
