Where've I've Been or What Happened to Me

Jul 15, 2009 06:06

I'd have to check my timeline, but it seems like I launched a couple of non-automated aggregators which took-up a lot of my time. Pretty much, if I were awake, I was updating and working toward perfecting a bot that might automate their production ( Read more... )

Thanks and I was kind of busy, punctuated by a couple of funks.

BTW: Though you were never overly specific, I have to say that whenever I've seen something about your former employer in the media, I'd always flash back to you and some of the things that you said.

IOW: Though I haven't been around a lot, I've actually thought of you quite often over the past year and I'd occasionally stop-in just to see how you're doing.

Thanks! I look forward to reading your musings. I had wondered where you'd gotten off to, and I'm pleased to see you back.

I really don't know what to say. Sometime during one of my hiatuses, when I was simply vegetating in cyberspace, you basically slipped off the globe and though I've caught bits and pieces via my friendslist, I'm looking forward to going back and trying to read the whole story.

A couple of folks back in NM were always going down your way, including a leggy blond that kept an apartment next door and I remember you entertaining the idea, but somehow I missed the actual move. Unfortunately, by the time that I had started dipping my toe back in on a regular basis, you were pretty well situated and I'd always vow to go back and read, but up until recently, time hasn't always been on my side.

Now all that has changed and though it might take me a while, I will go back and try to learn how you got to the this particular point in the grand adventure of life.

Congrats.

If you don't mind my asking, where in Southern Illinois? I grew up there.

I'm about a mile from the SIU campus in Carbondale. I spent most of my hotel time in Marion because they had a bigger room, but now I'm in a 111 yr old house that was moved from the campus to a wooded lot in the early 60s.

And, if you don't mind... where did you grow up? I've seen most everything from Mt. Vernon, south because when you're in a hotel with two kids, you tend to get out and ride around a lot.

About 45 minutes west-ish of Carbondale in a teeny weenie itty bitty town called Cutler in Perry County.

The closest thing to us of any interest was Carbondale. We went to a lot of movies and did a lot of shopping there. In fact, my junior prom was at SIU.

I see it on the map and Pickneyville is often in the news, but I've really only gone that direction on the interstate, so I haven't actually made it to Cutler, yet.

Carbondale seems nice and other than the perpetual rain, I can't really say that I have any complaints. It is sort of nice to get back to a 24-hr world and I like the diversity of a college town, but I also sometimes feel that everybody looks like someone from "That 70s Show" and the term "corn-fed" often comes to mind.

It's definitely something to get used to, when you've moved from a small town, 150 miles from the Mexican border.
