It seems to be the most logical course of action. There doesn't seem to be a lot of obvious variations to the appearances of bulbasaurs.

[Several days of walking? This is making him hate having a human body already. Sonido would have enabled him to get there much faster.]

I'm not sure if it's customary, but it does seem only right to give your Pokémon a name! It's much more personal that way, after all.

Why would I care if things are 'personal' or not? If I give him a name it will be to distinguish him from other bulbasaurs.

[This guy's voice...sounds a lot like his. It's odd. The communicator listed several options - text, voice, and video, for sending out messages. He makes a mental note to avoid using the voice function to avoid confusion. He doesn't expect to be making use of the communicator often, but it will make things clearer.]

I'm being logical about it.
