Yes, indeed. 35th state, establish in 1863 during the civil war, WV staying with the Union and VA going with the confederacy. It's funny. Most people outside this state think we're all dumb rednecks, but then again, most of them say, "You're from Charleston, West Virginia? Is that near Roanoke?" It's sad that they don't even know we're a state.
