rose and i took pepe to the vet today. she has two tumors. one has attacthed itself to the lymphnode (sp) on her neck. She also appears to have congestive heart failure. the vet called her a "geriatric rat." Sad.But true. I love her lots and will do whatever I can to make her comfortable. In fact, I am going to go hold her right now ( Read more... )

i'm very sorry about your dear rattie pepe.
i hope she pulls through :(

my guinea pig has a tumor too but there's nothing i can do about it.
im lucky it's not messing up her walking/peeing/eating,
so all i can do is make her comfortable.

*hugs*

where is hers at? pepe has one on her neck. the vet informed me that it COULD get so large that pepe can't swallow anymore. then it might suffocate her. SO SAD!

My Great Grandma had congestive heart failure for 30 years. I always shook a bit when I took her to the doctors and I had to write that. It sounds so deadly. But, she lived for 30 years with it. I think depression killed her. Not her cancer, or chf, or broken hip, or hip surgery. My Great Uncle passed in 01, and the following 5 years of my Grannys life, she was depressed as all hell cause her babyson died. My point? Pepe can make it, just keep him comfy and happy and don't let him (or you!) fall into deeeep depression.

I watched something last night, oh intervention about this 21 year old only child with diabetes who wouldn't take care of his shit. His parents were so sad. I cried cause I felt their pain? Motherhood does strange things to us. Watching that made me realize we NEED another kid. Not cause I don't want to give Kris all of my love, but cause I don't want him to be a spoiled ass brat and I don't want to baby him until he is 21! I want him out at 18! 18 = gets the boot!

yeah right. you're soooooooooooo not going to kick him out at 18. we wont kick rose out either. i think we will probably raise her with "you need to be out of the house when you turn 18" so that she knows and plans for it. if she is still with us...i WILL be disappointed...and hopefully that will motivate her to go to college or something. but...it's easy for us to say 18 = the boot...now that they're babies. but when they're big? yeah right, we'll puss out.

oh and my granny has congestive heart failure too. she's had it for...over ten years. i think/know the tumors will kill her though :/ I think the medicine (diuretic) will help clear up the congestive heart failure. okay, the kitty ran away and now rose is picking up the cushion (they were on the rocking chair when the "playing" happened) and looking for the kitty.
