In every city, the skies started pouring the day we arrived and didn't stop until the day we left. Quote of the honeymoon (said by various people in every area we visited): "Oh, you should have been here last week, the weather was LOVELY last week!" Inevitably, the weather would clear up the day we departed each city, and begin raining in our next destination.
New Zealand boasts more benches than I have ever seen anywhere else. Ever. There is a serious bench culture going on there.
I didn't realize New Zealand didn't have any native mammals (with the exception of a bat!?!) Not even SHEEPS!?!?!? wild.
Fun! New Zealand is the prime time location for all crazy / risky / adventure activities. Everywhere we went had its own special bungy offer.
I tried to skydive every single day we were there, and not once was the weather up to allowing parachuted loonies fall from aeroplanes. Very disappointing (mostly because I wanted to see the tiny sheeps from up above)
Being consumed in wedding planning up until the very day before we left for the h-moon, my packing strategies were a bit off. I ended up going there with several sundresses, two bathing suits, two tank tops, and two pairs of jeans. Apparently, I thought I was going to the Caribbean in summer rather than New Zealand in early spring -- Needless to say, the purple coat you see pictured in almost every photo was purchased almost immediately following our arrival in not-so-warm Queenstown
Very sad that we didn't get to see Milford Sound, due to the road being closed from avalanching :(
New Zealand-ers call tiny hot chocolates "fluffies" !!!!!!!!! (hence Fluffy the Spherical Sheep)
New Zealand is the best place for hiking (a.k.a. tramping) -- just so stunning. There's no way I could ever capture it on film (or digi card, for that matter)
My fav landscape, not pictured in this set because we weren't able to find a place suitable for pulling over, was during the drive from Rotorua back to Auckland. Hills, hills EVERYWHERE! It was like an ocean made of green! I didn't take the photo below, but it's kind of similar to what I'm describing:
So exquisite.
Andrew & I both survived driving on the left side of the road (but not without frequently turning on the windshield wipers when we meant to use the turn signals)
The absolute best part of the honeymoon was knowing that we no longer have to plan a wedding. YAAAAAAAY!~ (and also, having sex on the pool table that was in our suite at Koura Lodge)
oh oh oh, & the SHEEPS! have i mentioned i ♥ the sheeps? cause i do.
