[Saeki-sensei's literature and composition class is more or less self-taught. Kayako just writes the assignment on the board and then sits quietly at her desk, writing in her journal or occasionally reading instead. To be precise, I did not understand the values assigned to assigments to determine grading.

Can you explain how I got a C on this assignment.

Tell me what you wrote about. [Come on, she doesn't have time to actually remember anything about her students.]

[Kayako is perfectly content to let you stare all day while she scribbles childish drawings in her journal.

[The only way you will do better is if your next assignment is about how you broke into some guy's apartment and hid under his bed while he slept.]

[ Well. That would explain the A+ on Sawyer's last assignment.

The quiet student (who contrary to the lies and slander in her introduction post actually does wear the mandatory school uniform most of the time) has a tendency to include one too many graphic descriptions of blood and gore in her writings, even if-- correction: especially if the assignment doesn't seem to call for it. Amongst other slightly unsettling things.

So sometime towards the end of the lesson Sawyer slinks up to Saeki-sensei's desk and hands over her latest piece of work. Silently. ]

[Guess what, you are officially Kayako's favorite student, Sawyer.

She actually closes her journal to accept Sawyer's work, because she is reading this right the heck now thanks.]

[ Sawyer is whatever the Sawyer equivalent of being pleased as punch about school accomplisgments is. Probably indifferent.

She will stand there for another quiet moment in case her sensei has anything to add. After that she will slink back to her seat and look bored. ]
