Character: Miranda Lott
Series/Fandom: D. Gray-man
Original or Template version: Original

Age: 22
Gender: Female
Species: Human/Exorcist (as exorcists are never quite human)
Sexuality: Straight

Appearance: Miranda, depending on her state of mind, can look inexplicably old, or rather young and kind. Her curly dark brown hair hangs loosely about her face, constantly getting swept up in the wind, while her gray eyes give her a sort of far off look, which isn't exactly a lie considering how spacey she can be at times. Her skin is rather pale, and flushes easily when she's embarassed or flustered. While her face is normally round, when exhausted while she can have extremely dark circles under her eyes and her face becomes tight and sharply angled, giving her an older appearance.

As for figure, Miranda is extremely tiny, and she has very little fat on her. She also has very little muscle, never having really needed it in her typical professions. But she's fast enough. She tends to prefer dresses, or the exorcist uniform, which is just the slightest bit skin tight, revealing the toned form of her legs and emphasizing her chest. She's also rather adept at pulling her hair back and tying it into a tight bun, all hair completely out of her face.

Her innocence also has the form of a time disk, which she wears at her wrist. Most of the time, Miranda's face holds some worry or another, and its rare to see her look extremely carefree.

Personality: Spazz. Miranda is extremely spazzy and tends to flail and shout when shocked or scared by something, and she tends to be shocked or scared very easily-- or rather, she used to be. Since leaving her home town and becoming an exorcist, Miranda's determination and strength as a person has grown phenomenally, and she will do everything in her power to reign in her emotions to get the job done. However, this is a hard task for her in most cases, as she hates to watch people be hurt or die.

In truth, Miranda is very kind hearted, and would rather see no one else hurt. This stems from the fact that she constantly feels the need to try and prove herself useful to the world around her, always wanting desperately to make some sort of inpact on others in a positive way. She wants to feel needed, and is scared of the idea that she will let everyone down that she's ever met. This tends to make her extremely loyal, and she can over exert herself at times.

She also has some rather unhealthy coping habits when she does let someone down, such as not eating or sleeping, and she can become rather jumpy and nervous, to where she might not always listen to reason, instead preferring to run away from others. But these are habits that she's working hard to overcome, and they are slowly vanishing as her self-confidence grows. She can no longer say she's completely useless and inept, like she used to.

Abilities/Strengths: Miranda, as an exorcist, is granted the abilities of the Innocence. Miranda's abilities also are of a special breed, as they're exceptionally useful and unique in nature. Miranda is able to invocate 'time', and by speaking the words, "Disk invocate!" She can use her innocence to cause time to constantly revert to a certain point. If one becomes hurt while in the sphere of her innocence's influence, they will revert back to where they were perfectly unharmed, even if they should be dead.

Miranda also has a near limitless supply of stamina, meaning she can maintain this state for an extended period of time. This is especially true considering she can't sleep while invocating her innocence.

Weaknesses: While she can keep everyone in perfect condition thanks to her innocence, once Miranda becomes too exhausted to keep up the time lock, or drops it for one reason or another, all the damage one gained while in her time lock will come back. If you died while in the time lock, you will die once out of it.

Miranda is also rather weak physically, so she can't really put up a fight. Most of the time, while invocating her innocence, she's the one that ends up being protected, because of how useful her abilitt us, She also has extremely low self-esteem and will do almost anything she can to prove herself worthy.

Her ability is both a blessing and a curse, though, because she can't stand to watch the death and destruction that occurs once she stops invocating.

History: Miranda Lott can honestly say she lived through over thirty October the 8th's in a row. However, that comes later in her story. First, it bears nothing that Miranda has always been absolutely terrible at anything she does. When she was a child, she watched all of her peers excell at something, and they easily moved ahead in life, while she stayed behind, unable to do anything with skill or ease.

She became known as Miranda the Unlucky, thanks to her inability to hold a job for long at all, as she was always very clumsy and inept. Basically, a useless woman. This tended to leave her at wits end, and she would often deny herself basic physical necessities, such as sleep or food. Unwittingly, she was making herself able to go without, and giving herself the stamina and energy she's known for.

But, this stage of her life was not to last for long. One day, after she had been fired from her last 'normal' job, Miranda went to a pawn shop, where she discovered a clock that couldn't wind up, that no one wanted because of its uselessness. Immediately, Miranda bought the clock, because she saw herself in it. And to both hers and the shopkeeper's surprise, when she wound the clock up, it began to tick. Enthralled, Miranda took it home with her, and the next day began to go job searching.

After a fruitless day of job searching, Miranda, exhausted, went home and went to bed... Only to wake up to live the day she had just lived in a row. For twenty-seven days, absolutely nothing changed. However, on the twenty-eighth day, after being splashed with mud thanks to a passing carriage, Miranda encountered her first strang occurence, where she was asked by strange men, "Where is the innocence?!" Of course, Miranda was confused and frightened out of her mind, but she was saved by a boy with white hair-- whom she promptly ran away from when he tried to speak to her.

She wondered at the strange occurrence, by this time rather exhausted and jumpy at the slightest change. After all, she was the only person in her village that seemed to notice they were repeating the same things over and over again. The village children even asked her how she became so good at dodging the poop they threw at her! But the twenty-ninth day was different too, because she saw the white-haired boy once again. This time, she followed him to a pub, and sat in the booth next to his, listening to him and his partner, a girl with long hair, speak about 'innocence' and 'akuma'.

Much to her dismay, however, the boy with white hair recognized her, and tried to talk to her, as she was apparently key to whatever they were trying to accomplish. Allen Walker was his name, and his partner was called Rinali Li. They calmed her down enough, Rinali taking pity on her extremely frazzled state. However, as they were speaking, the group was attacked by every person in the pub, all of them being the 'akuma' that Allen and Rinali had spoken of, most of them level two.

I should note at this time that akuma are essentially killing machines, with the ability to evolve. They're made from the souls of the departed, who have been called up by their loved ones in an attempt to bring them back to life. However, the akuma are anything but pleasant to the souls that feed them, most of the souls crying out, asking their loved ones why they couldn't be stronger. They are required to kill said loved ones, and to wear their corpses as a skin, to hide themselves. At this time, the highest it's believed that an akuma can evolve is to level four, which are ridiculously powerful and have never been defeated. Only exorcists can defeat akuma and to save the souls of those trapped as akuma, and only exorcists can invocate the innocence.

And Akuma? They are created by the Millenium Earl, a man with a large, out of place grin always on his face. Always.

After the defeat of some, and the scaring off of the rest, Allen and Rinali followed Miranda home, where she showed them the clock that she had bought from the man in the pawn shop. After a few questions, Allen and Rinali determined that the clock was the source of the time lock, and that the innocence was contained somewhere within it. They also mistakenly believed that the innocence was trying to grant Miranda's vain wish that tomorrow never come, and that the time lock would not vanish until Miranda became happy. Thus, both of them worked at trying to find Miranda a job, and to allow her to keep it.

However, all of their efforts were met in vain, and Miranda always lost her job. For five days, they tried this to no luck. However, on the sixth day, it changed. This time, Miranda and Allen were working to sell tickets for a local show, and the money that Miranda had collected was lost. After being fired, once again, Allen and Rinali were once again attacked by the same akuma that had attacked them earlier in the pub. This time, however, the Akuma had the guidance of a new force... A Noah by the name of Rhode Camelot. Rinali and Allen were easily defeated, and Rhode took them all to the clock that Miranda had bought.

While they waited for Allen to wake up, Rhode declared that Rinali was her doll, Rinali having been hurt by the screaming sound of one of the Akuma. Rhode stabbed Miranda's hands with her candles, pinning her to the clock. And when Allen woke up, it was him versus three akuma and a Noah. Miranda couldn't stand watching, once again, as she proved to be completely useless, and she desperately wanted to be of some help to Allen and Rinali. It was then that Miranda was able to syncronize with the Innocence, marking her as its exorcist, and the very first time lock was created, Allen and Rinali reverting back to the state they had been in before they were harmed.

Together, they were able to destroy the three akuma, and to fend off the Noah. Miranda, however, didn't want to release the time lock, understanding inherently that their injuries would once again return if she did. But Allen and Rinali both coaxed her into it, promising her that it would be alright if she did. Before she did, they thanked her, something no one had ever done for her.

From there, Miranda was sent to the secret society of exorcists, to train her power and to learn how to fight the war for innocence against the Millenium Earl. The time lock over her town was also broken, and everything returned to normal.

She didn't appear again until she was sent on her first mission, which was to defend a ship that was to set sail to Japan, which was the Millenium Earl's base of operations. Everyone worried, at first, about Miranda's abilities to keep the ship afloat, as she would be unable to sleep while invocating her innocence. Miranda admitted that she would be able to stay up for three days straight with absolutely no problem, because she had stayed up for ten days straight in a fit of despair. But, that was Miranda! And she was glad to be travelling with Rinali again.

However, on the way to Japan, they were attacked by a host of level two akuma, and one level three Akuma. While Rinali went out to sea to fight the level three akuma alone, Miranda had her endurance and heart tested as she watched most of the men on the ship die in the battle, but their lives were extended by her ability, and they would throw themselves in front of her, to protect her, knowing they themselves were already dead. It was exhausting on her stamina, and on her heart to watch, and she once again felt she was useless, if only for a time.

Thanks to clever thinking between Ravi and Crowley, however, the battle was won, all of the akuma destroyed. Ravi went to sea to retrieve Rinali, who had lost all of her hair in the fight against the akuma, and they were saved by a modified akuma, sent by General Cross, the man they were seeking. Sachiko, the modified akuma's name, propelled them to Japan, making their travel easier. But the end of the trip was the most painful of all, as the exorcists, and only one of the ship's crew were able to leave and not be killed. When Miranda stopped invocating, the ship, and all of the crew promptly were killed in a grand explosion of sorts, and the injuries that the exorcists had obtained returned.

But they were in Japan, the home of the Millenium Earl and his Noah. But, it would be impossible to go into Japan without garnering some sort of attention, and fighting broke out between the exorcists, now including Allen Walker, and some of the Noah and their akumas, which eventually ended up in most of the team being sucked up into a disintegrating ark, while Miranda tried fruitlessly to use her abilities to bring them back. Left behind, she could do nothing but watch, hope, and pray. At one point, she believed all hope was lost, but the arc returned from nothing, and all of the exorcists were able to use the ark to return to their home base, where Allen was suddenly placed under lock and key, being suspected of being in conspiracy with the Noahs.

For a time, it seemed like they had won an important battle however, as the exorcists has the egg that all akuma were birthed from. It wouldn't take long, however, before they were attacked by the Noah in an effort to steal the egg back. It was once again that Miranda's abilities were useful again, and she was able to stop the egg from being stolen, temporarily, while General Cross gave Allen the order to destroy it.

The Akuma then took Miranda and tried to drown her-- but seeing Allen about to destroy the egg, they placed her against it, using her as a shield. Allen, however, unable to stop his attack by then, destroyed the egg and Miranda along with it.

Sample Journal Entry: THE EGG! [gasps as she looks around her, staring at the cathedral, in horror]

I... A-allen? Ravi...? Rinali? Kanda?! I-I... My innocence... I'm not invocating! No! [holds her hands to her head, trying to not cry] And now... I'm not where I should be! I've let them down, when they needed me the most!

I can't do this to them again... And the akuma... [ she lowers her hands, looking around] Where are they...? Where am I?

This isn't home. And I can't remember how I got here...

Ah! What is this place! There's... A-are those coaches...?

[a pause, then an inhale] Okay, Miranda. You can do this! Don't panic! Don't panic... There's going to be an explanation, a-and, the egg... I'll help get it back, to make up for my mistake. I have to do my best, now more than ever.

Sample Roleplay: Miranda looked around the strange church, at all the stained glass. Where was she, so suddenly? Her initial outburst had only muted her confusion, as the first thing on her mind was anything but 'Where am I?' She looked around, her hands clasped together. After a moment, she took a timid step forward, always on the lookout for the akuma that could be lurking anywhere around the corner. But it was eerily and unexpectedly quiet.

Gaining some courage. but still maintaining her caution, Miranda took another step forward, and then another, and another. Eventually, she found herself at the door, hand hesitating at the handle. What would be beyond this door, she had no clue. Part of her expected to see the Noah that had attacked them-- but maybe her luck would hold out, and she'd find no akuma or Noah, and instead the exorcists that she recognized.

But she couldn't count on that, could she? It was with a hesitant and heavy heart that Miranda pulled the heavy oak doors open, and she blinked at the sudden flood of sunlight. From inside the cathedral, she'd heard no sound, but from outside, it was loud and filled with sounds that she had never heard in her life. She jumped and then blinked at the strange gathering outside. There were many people (akuma?), and strange devices, the like she had never seen.

A step outside, and then she quickly stepped back as she was almost hit by a human who didn't seem to see her, placing a hand over her heart. How shocking! And rude! But she couldn't think on that for long, and gathering up her bravery, she merged into the crowd of people, constantly glancing around herself, ever on the lookout for any person that might suddenly reveal themselves to be an akuma that she was unprepared to fight.
