“Hyung, have you ever been in love?”

“I think so.” he opens his eyes, Dongwoo is stood at the open balcony door, hair mussed and flat in certain places. “Why?” He asks, blinking up at him.

“Weird dreams.” he answers. Closing the door behind himself as he steps out and peers up at the sky.

The sky is dim, dark and dreary, clouds hung heavy and full, still perfectly visible despite how dark it is. The humidity is unbareable. Sunggyu supposes it’s the air pressure that’s making his head pound and thus unable to sleep, so while laying awake in bed, he decided he needed some air. Or maybe it’s anxiety, he’s not sure anymore. It’s too early to be morning but too late to be night. Does that even make sense?

“About?”

Sunggyu knows that simple answers are far from ever being truly simple when it comes to the younger man. Always the selfless one, the one everyone relies on. Even more so then him. He supposes his heart isn’t as big as Dongwoo’s is, doesn’t fit everyone in as comfortably as Dongwoo’s does. The younger man sticks his hand out over the railing, feeling for any precipitation. He then runs his fingers through his hair -  probably realizing how crazy it must look - and glances back at him for a moment before looking back out over the city. they stay quiet for awhile. Just simply sharing a moment together.

But Sunggyu waits for a response. He’s always full. Heavy with things he won’t say. But doesn’t let it show around the other members. Sunggyu notices when he drags himself into his bedroom, throwing himself onto his bed and seemingly sinking into the fabric like it’s the only thing he can comfortably rely on, curling up under the covers. He notices when they’re alone and Dongwoo wonders aloud, when they actually get moments like this. Sunggyu wonders how often they do this. Any of them.

“Would needing someone to be…" He looks over his shoulder at him again, turning his body to face him but still leaning one elbow on the railing. Quickly peering down and away as he fiddles with his own fingers, he bites his bottom lip before finally speaking again, "Like, would wanting a friendship so badly it almost hurts be…weak?”

Taken aback, he blinks at the other man. Closely watching his facial cues to find genuine uncertainty etched into his being at that moment. “No. That’s love.”

“Ah. Really?”

Sunggyu nods, his head feeling like lead as he pulls it from it’s resting place on the hammock and gets to his feet. He leans on the railing as well, stood infront of the younger man, folding his arms so he can rest his head ontop of something somewhat soft. The orange glow of the streets below, red and green lights flickering back and forth. It's quiet and calm, like it usually is before as storm. And everyone must be sleeping, completely oblivious to the world.

“But don’t you love everyone?”

Dongwoo peers up at him, not having moved as Sunggyu made his transition from one spot to another and smiles. It’s genuine and he can’t help returning it, the younger man raises an eyebrow as he turns his head to look out at the view with him.

“Hyung?”

He hums in response, feeling Dongwoo’s arm curve over his back and hang heavy atop him. It’s comfortable, warm. The younger man feels less downcast and he can't help the swelling pride in his chest.

“Do you wanna do something tomorrow?”

“Like?”

“I don’t know. Shopping?”

“Sure. If it's not raining.”

A sudden flash makes them jump, the ricocheting sound of a crack vibrating them on the spot. Dongwoo’s arm is wrapped around him tightly and Sunggyu bolts up straight. The pitter-patter of rain starts up, increasing and pelting down at such an incredibly fast rate that Sunggyu grabs for the younger man.

“Let’s go inside.”

Another crackle of light flashes in the sky as the large drops of water finally begin to fall after what feels like days of grey skies, the sheets of rain even block their view of anything below. Dongwoo winces when they splash onto his outstretched hand. Sunggyu laughs stiffly, pulling on his arm.

“Hurry up!”

The wind picks up suddenly, shifting the rain’s trojectory and pushing it into their little space on the outside of their apartment building. They laugh, as they scramble into the apartment. Sunggyu closes the door behind them, still gripping Dongwoo’s hand in his.

“You hate thunderstorms.”

“Shut it.”

Dongwoo grins, eyes curved and teeth pristine.

“It'll be sunny tomorrow, don't worry, hyung. Let’s watch a movie.”

The younger man squeezes his hand in his and pulls him towards the couch. He doesn’t like the sound of thunder, nor does he like the way Dongwoo looks when he’s stuck in a rut. But when Dongwoo laughs at the stupid movie playing on their television and it drowns out the loud cracks of the lightening flashing outside, with arms wrapped around him, Sunggyu feels himself slip under the weight of his own need for sleep.
