You would think, Mirabella thought, that mermaids would eat fish -- although, come to think of it, they'd have to eat it raw. She shuddered, and was briefly homesick for stoves, and iceboxes, and even perhaps winter. Winter meals, anyway, with hot stew and lovely warm blankets... It was odd, what she found herself missing. Of course there were summer nights, and dancing, but really she just wanted a nice cooked meal

Not the prompter, but excellent drabble nevertheless.

As far as I can tell, supplementary material shows the mermaids are vegan. They eat kelp, coral, and other vegetation.
