Kovu (I know you said princesses, but I couldn't resist): an earth kingdom Avatar who was kidnapped and raised by the Red Lotus. An aging Zahir was like a father to him. Rafiki is a member of the White Lotus Society who has tracked him down with the help of Kiara, another earth bender who is the child of Korra and Asami's adoptive daughter. She never knew Korra but has grown up in her shadow and feels a responsibility to help the new Avatar, even if he has lost his way

I know there have already been replies, but sugar, I'm on it like blue bonnet.
Give me a week to a month for some (hopefully) nice drabble-esque bites.
And I know you said princesses/heroines, but I really really can't resist adding some men (Aladdin especially. I'm having a mad fit of Aladdin obsession...) but I'll try to make sure the split is at least even.
AN/ A month to the day! Here is the first snippet. I meant to do a proper princess, but this is the only person who was speaking to me... I have some other ones drafted, but I kind of want to see where everyone else is at with this

“Lilo!” Nani exclaims. Her voice is that relieved tone that goes either stern or angry after Lilo’s explanation. As she and Stitch get closer, Lilo can see Nani squinting at Stitch before her eyes goes wide

Re: Book 1: Water (dfingersfallingJune 9 2016, 21:21:43 UTC
Lilo shakes the haze off the weakly shout.
“No! Don’t hurt him!”
“Lilo,” David says softly. “He’s dangerous. He hurt you.”
“Only because stupid Gantu scared him! He was fine before!” Lilo shouts. Her heart is thumping in her chest as Gantu approaches Stitch again. Stitch feebly breathes fire at him, but Lilo can see he’s too weak to win a fight or run away. She can’t let this happen.
“Say goodbye you stupid creature!” Gantu raises his machete.
“NO!” Lilo shouts. A powerful gale of wind rises up with her words and throws Gantu over Stich and skidding into the water. The force of the blow makes David drop Lilo, and she scrambles to her feet and darts past Nani to reach Stitch

Lilo turns and stares as the Grand Councilwoman approaches, walking through the crowd which ducks their heads with respect and steps away from her. The soft sound of her long blue robes sweep over the snow is loud in the ensuing silence

Lilo sighs and sits down. Stitch copies and lays his head on Lilo’s shoulder. He’s still shaking, but he’s also much calmer and warmer to her than before

Omg, I'm so late, and so sorry, but I've read this like three times out of absolute delight. It's so perfect! I love how Lilo sounds like herself, and a kid, and how it's possible to just picture her and Nani having these conversations. The bending-prodigy Lilo angle works so well as a parallel to her precociousness in canon, too.
I love how her airbending comes out as the result of an argument with Myrtle, as well! It's a really nice touch, and it totally makes sense that it would be confused with waterbending at first. (Especially in a snowy environment!)
The whole situation with Stitch is so perfect. The line about her giving him a name cracked me up, it's so Lilo, and yes she would totally adopt a lost, angry little creature and want to keep it as a pet.
I have to take a moment to squee about the Grand Councilwoman and her HBIC moment as well, haha. Absolutely glorious, and I love how she and Lilo interacted.
Ohana means family. ♥ I totally have to bookmark this.

My own hella late reply. I wanted to reply when I posted the next bit, but I didn't realize it would take me so long to get this next chunk out. Ahhhh ^.^; I always do this...
Anyways, I am SO glad you liked this! I had a lot of fun trying to wind in parts of their personalities into canon with different explanations. That Lilo and Nani's interactions made sense is the biggest relief because it's that which is the backbone for the movie, yeah. ;)
Thanks for the awesome prompt and the wonderful reply!

Sorry for the delay in releasing this. I wanted to finish it all, but I got to four thousand words and just facepalmed with frustration, because this is going to be another long one. So it may as well be chaptered
