I Won't Say I'm in Love - various, mostly slash

The song by Meg from Hercules, as applied to different pairings who are unrequited, in denial, or unable to be together. Some faves for your consideration:
- Charlotte/Tiana (Princess and the Frog) - Bagheera/Baloo (The Jungle Book) - Lumiere/Cogsworth (Beauty and the Beast) - Basil/Dawson (The Great Mouse Detective) - Todd/Copper (The Fox and the Hound) - Nakoma/Pocahontas and Thomas/John Smith (Pocahantas) - Chief Bogo/Clawhauser (Zootopia). Nick/Judy could also apply here.

Do you want characters outright singing the song, or just the themes of the song applied to fic? Either way - especially if the latter - I'm tempted to do a double-fill, one for Basil/Dawson and one for Nick/Judy.

OP here
Hi! I was thinking just the general themes, they don't necessarily need to be singing along with a Greek chorus ... although that could be really funny ;) Can't wait to see what you come up with!
My Dear Dawson - Basil/Dawson - The Great Mouse DetectivecaptainzarinaMay 3 2016, 15:57:52 UTC
The first part came out kind of word-vomit-y but I hope you enjoy! - Insanely frustrating, that’s what it was. He was Basil of Baker Street, after all. The best detective in all of Mousedom; the smartest creature alive. (And so humble, too.)
So why couldn’t he figure out this… This puzzle? This annoying inconsistency in his daily life?
Dawson had been welcomed on as Basil’s partner, and even Basil himself had to admit he needed someone to help him stay grounded. It was a good thing. But the distractions that came with Basil’s new flatmate were decidedly not good things.
But the most frustrating part was not that he was distracted, though! And that was saying something; Basil hated distractions above almost all else. No, the most frustrating thing about the situation was that he didn’t know why he was distracted by Dawson. There was no logical reason for it, after all. Dawson was just another Mouse. Kinder than most; Basil’s first true friend outside of Toby, granted, but still just another Mouse
( ... )
Omg that was the sweetest thing I've read in ages, and so perfectly in-character! I love the little reference to Olivia (and her name), and Basil's rather dark and sad suspicion that he is incapable of love. The whole thing was a real treat. Thank you so much for the adorable fill!

And/or any others you can think of :)
