It was a beautiful night. The waves were calm and rolled onto the sand, petting the shore tenderly. The stars shone bright overhead and a gentle breeze floated through the air, bringing with it the scents of orchids and marigold and honeysuckle.
Sitting together on the beach were Nani and David. It had been a long, exhausting day and the two had a wonderful ache in their bodies; the kind gained from being productive all day. As the two laid there silently, their fingers twined together. Their palms pressed into one another and it only took a moment for them to roll on their sides and lock eyes.
David had always cared for Nani. It was a harmless crush during their school days, which had blossomed into love as the shy little girl grew into a strong-willed woman. Dedicated to her sister, Nani did not have much time for David, her childhood sweetheart, but that made the moments they spent together much more real, much more precious.
"Nani," David said softly. "I love you."
Nani's reply came quickly, and just as soft. "I love you, too."
Nani/David is only of my only het ships and I feel like you've captured them perfectly. I love the awkwardness and the sweetness of it and just everything. You're a fantastic writer! Now I wish this wasn't anonymous so I could read your other work, but obviously I know why it is. Thank you for sharing!
