Mushu was never one to enjoy the silence for long. Not that there was total silence on the hillside that night as he could hear the sound of crickets in the night. One of which included a certain lucky cricket.
Cricky himself was perched on a rock, chirping away. When Cricky had started up with this noise, Mushu thought the cricket was trying to annoy him at first. But then the rhythm of the chirps had reached him.
The cricket was making music. Beautiful music to those who took the time to stop and listen. Once again, not something Mushu normally did. But something about this time made him keep his mouth closed in case he interrupted the music.
So instead of saying anything, Mushu laid back on the grass on the hill, looking up at the starry sky. Eventually he slipped off to sleep. Not long after Cricky ended his music, hopped over to Mushu, and curled up on the little dragons chest to sleep as well.
oh my gosh! that was truly, truly beautiful! definitely one of my very favourite fills. i just love tiny quiet scenes that say a ton in only a few words...it's basically exactly what this story is about. just taking the time to lose yourself in a moment or in nature, and finding all the wonderful little details. this is so perfect!
