Beauty and the Beast, Babette/Lumiere. "I've been burned by you before." Maybe she meant that literally. Explore this. Was it before or after the curse? Former case could be a bit of experimentation that goes awry; latter could be an attempt at comfort/recapturing part of what made humanity so enjoyable that doesn't go exactly as planned. Or anything else you can think of.
