The Great Mouse Detective. Basil/Dawson fluff. CANNOT FIGHT CRIME, DAWSON. AM CRUMPETLESS. (Shameless shkinkmeme reference, there. Guilty.)

"Those delightful cheese crumpets", eh? As Holmes has his Watson, so Basil has his Dawson. And, as Holmes has his cocaine, so Basil has his cheese crumpets. Dawson's learned it's best to carry a few along on the case.

IDEK I JUST WANT FLUFF WHERE BASIL'S A CHEESE CRUMPET ADDICT AND DAWSON'S HIS DEALER. IT SOUNDS ADORABLE.

...mentions of Dawson being addicted to/disturbingly fond of jam will be met with hugs and souls.

Dawson is sitting by the fire reading, basking in a brief moment of peace without anyone trying to take over the world or Basil nattering on about something or other - Basil is a dear sweet fellow, but he does natter on so, and really it’s rather pleasant when he’s out solving things by himself and Dawson can relax - when a young mouse arrives with a letter. It is addressed to Dawson in Basil’s clear handwriting, and the messenger leaves without waiting for a reply. Curious, Dawson unfolds the note. CANNOT FIGHT CRIME, DAWSON. AM CRUMPETLESS, it reads, followed by an address ( ... )

Oh, this is absolutely adorable. I love the idea of Basil wondering, "A crumpet to go with your jam, Dawson?" So wonderful and in-character. Same for Dawson murmuring "something self-deprecating." B'awww.
