Thanks for the awesome prompt! I was wanting to get back into writing, and filling some promised prompts, but I was having a bit of writer's block. And I love video-prompts. Weird pairing, but I went for it! Hope you enjoy, creative-anon ( ... )

You smile, and your head cocks at me.

"We are exes, you know that. It's just a gift," you are trying to be placating (Am I some wild beast, then?) "If it bothers you, though, I won't accept anymore. I just wanted to look nice for you."

That thought piques my ego, and I come back from the dark place I was headed. I laugh, and hook my finger in the collar of your shirt, tugging it forward.

"Ha, you think all this impresses me? I couldn't care less what you put on."

You look down at my finger against the bare, heated skin of your chest, and back up at me, and I can tell from the intensity of your gaze that you are falling again, falling back in love with me, and I've got you truly listening to me this time.

"Yeah, and why is that?"

I'm confidant, and the words fall out of my mouth from behind a grin,

"Because they are just going to end up on the floor anyway."

You laugh, charmed, and give me a friendly shove back inside.

"Come on then, at least feed me first, or did you manage to cook something edible at all?"

And six or seven drinks into the night, I feel like that's the way the even will head, the way I want it to head. I feel warm, and carefree, and lean back into the cushions piled up next to the table. I managed to cook something all right, some stew I threw together, because hell, after drinks, everything tastes good ( ... )

You stand, and your face is twisted in rage. I hurt you deep, and your fists are curled at your sides. What no one else sees, except me, is that in your angry moments, in your fights and defiance and scrabbles and even your triumphs, it's tears, not fire, that make your eyes shine. But you won't shed them, not for me, not anymore ( ... )

I manage to stay still, to watch you as you grab nothing at all, none of your belongings, and make for the door, for the last time ( ... )

So, I'm finally getting round to doing a review for this and I gotta say for a start that this is breathtaking. It's dark and sweeping, and the characterisation comes across well. You can really feel both of the characters, and I don't think that you have 'feminised' them in the way that you've said you have problems with. You gave two characters, and it doesn't matter their sex or sexuality ( ... )

*making sweet, sweet love to your comment*

If I could turn your comment into a blanket, I'd cuddle up in it tonight. And I mean that in the least creepy way, of course. My ego is stroked and purring like a cat.

I kind of want to do an Aladdin-pov-sequel to it, to give his side of events in this story, but also, his insight into other flashes of their life. I usually hate non-linear storytelling, but I feel like for a domestic-abuse situation, there is no clear beginning, and that's what makes it dangerous and sad, that the catalyst can't be easily pined, that blame can't be assigned so easily. I am glad you got the difference between Jim's justifications and real excuses. I was afraid it wouldn't come across. I do find Jim more the main aggressor, but I couldn't make Aladdin the weeping victim, because you know he's got a temper too. That line from the song inspired me: "When a volcano meets a tornado."

Sdgjkfdh what above said

I'd never thought of this pairing but halfway through part 1 you had me falling deeper in with the characterizations and circumstances. I think what I love most is how Aladdin and Jim don't work, but they are still together because you illustrate so wonderfully why two people who don't try anyway.

Definitely a keeper, this fill!
