What we don't know about Giselle is that she isn't exactly the innocent thing the beginning of the movie made her out to be. She's actually more of a Disney social status climber trying in vain to become a princess, and the "innocent forest creature" thing is a total front. (Why else do you think she was manufacturing her "dream prince" statue in the beginning?) And that she had set her sights on Prince Phillip before Prince Edward came along.
So....she sets up a chance encounter with Prince Phillip who happens to be riding through her enchanted forest hunting one day, woos him over with her "innocent feminine wiles" to her treehouse home, and has some crazy good sex....until Phillip tells her, "I'm sorry, but I'm betrothed, but this was fun!" and totally letting her down.
