Wishes were unpredictable at the best of times. Sometimes humans just didn’t understand what they were wanting, what their desires meant in the grand scheme of everything. They would just see something they wanted and begin wishing without regards for the plans already set out by the universe. And sometimes those desires, those oh so human wishes, resulted in disaster

And that was the end of it. He returned to pestering the animals and dropping the occasional batch of madness onto the palace. Once or twice he would catch himself passing the girl, the warrior, the Queen’s lover, and have to fight back the urge to ask if she wanted to go home. He should ask. He needed to ask. But then he’d see her resting her head on Jasmine’s shoulder or making treats for the Sultan who had fallen in love with the new recipes she had brought with her. He’d see her playing keep away with Abu’s midday snack or arguing with Iago about a new law or the value of gold

This fill! ♥ I love how you turned it into such a story, wove it as you did. (Also, I almost feel like there should be a sequel to this. So many little clues!) This is just wonderful, fluffy and romantic with those little undercurrents of darkness which really bring depth to the characters, especially to Genie. Your characterisation of him here is wonderful, just that little bit darker and with a touch of pathos about it.
Especially:
Whole kingdoms he had brought to ruin. He had seen emperors rise, had seen them fall. Had helped them with both. He had existed before mortals learned how to tame fire and would exist long after they fell to their own madness. But nothing to come would replace the light feeling in his heart or the heavy feeling over his soul.
This paragraph. Oh my word, the resonance of this paragraph is just... wonderful. I'm struggling to even describe it. ♥

Dude, don't encourage sequels. I still need to finish the Mulan/Lifen sequel. ...Threequel? And no, that will not be about Jasmine being reincarnated into Lifen and their daughter being the same daughter because that would just be silly.
...I'm serious. Brain, stop thinking about doing that! >:|
Genie has to have this amazing back story and the darkness to him when Jafar's ordering him to do awful things and he's just like "oh, this again" and I'm so glad he came across well.
EITHER WAY: I'm really, really glad you liked it. Seriously, geeking out here.
Bonus points if it's an actual long-term relationship.
Super-bonus points if it's Mulan and Jasmine, and Mulan is actually pregnant with Jasmine's baby due to some magic-work by Genie. ^^

Also, apparently Genie was drafted into aiding and abetting Mpreg at some point or another. Who knew? XD
