Mulan makes her first public appearance as Shang's wife, dressed to the nines and looking the part of the delicate porcelain doll. So, of course, three shady fellows decide to kidnap the wilting flower and hold her ransom.As she is walking in the street she is pulled into a carriage, which speeds away. All of Shang's family is terrified and worried, and immediately go about getting the money together. Shang is like, "Nah, chill, she's got this." A few hours later, the carriage pulls up to the main house, where three badly beaten bandits fall out, followed by a satisfied looking Mulan. Hey, she defeated Shan motherfucking Yu pretty much on her own. Some run of the mill punks aren't going to make her break a sweat.
At first they think Shang is just in shock - he’s not helping gather money for the ransom, he’s not crying, he’s not strapping on his sword to go find his lovely wife, he’s just sitting quietly by the gate, smiling a little, and occasionally looking over at the water clock
