I can only imagine what sort of discussion the king would have with Flynn after bringing Rapunzel home. This is the thief who stole her crown, after all; it's the ULTIMATE slap in the face to the monarchy. He thinks Flynn wants some monitary payment or something, when all Flynn wants is to turn his life around and....I don't know....MARRY her?

Around the Kingdom, Flynn Rider was known to be a dashingly clever thief, a womanizer, and somewhat of an over cocky and overconfident prick. If he were ever to be in the presence of the King of Corona, it was because he was being tried for the crimes he committed, especially the stealing of the crown. Not because he was the one who found the Lost Princess, rescued her from Mother Gothel, and had fallen in love with her

Oh. So that was it. The King was trying to make sure Flynn Rider didn’t get anymore involved with his daughter than he already was. It was a bit of a slap in the face, really. Of course, Eugene didn’t want any money. All he wanted was Rapunzel. Now, tomorrow, forever. He couldn’t be paid to stay away from her. All the guards in Corona and in the world couldn’t possibly stop him from seeing her. Well, maybe they could, but that certainly didn’t mean Eugene wasn’t going to die trying
