Meg/Cinderella - Bonnie and Clyde anonymous May 20 2012, 17:11:45 UTC
Cinderella is a bored young woman from an abusive home who takes up with small-time criminal Meg. The two graduate to murder and bank robbery before dying in a shootout with the police.
Anything with this set-up would be good, but if Prince Charming and/or Hercules happen to be on the police force, I would love that.

(A/N: I chose to write two excerpts from their relationship and “career”, rather than a describe it full, mostly because I wanted to skip to what I considered the good parts. I hope you'll enjoy the accompanying art (based on a famous picture of Bonnie and Clyde) as compensation for not having the interest or energy to write up their whole history. As a side note, my writing/drawing soundtrack to this was “Somebody Loved” by The Weepies.)

Virginities Their first time is in Meg's Ford V-8, and the air is so dusty and hot that the parts of their bodies not stuck to the leather or licked clean are coated in grit. Meg means to be gentle, but her hands come out rough and clumsy: there are elbows everywhere and pulled hair towards the end. Cindy doesn't mind, she is too busy laughing at her own naivete, her closed off words between open legs. Her heart had been hardened from the outside in, and she does not expect tenderness in any sector of her life ( ... )

After than that fateful morning, Meg never again heard a foul word from Cindy's mouth. She saw the hard lips, hard eyes, many times again. More often than not Meg herself was the victim of this scowl, but the worst she heard from Cindy was an infrequent 'drat'. Even on this day, this hour on the side of the road, in the V-8, as they give their bodies to one another in forfeit, she is as honey-tongued as a schoolgirl ( ... )

After that they planned the heists together. For a while Cindy just sat in the car, but after they had enough money for a second rifle and two BARs she started coming along. Meg had a bit of a reputation already, but it grew with every emptied vault, and her partner was tacked onto it soon enough. Meg frowned at the papers, muttered things about making Mr. Hades' job easier for him, but Cindy saw the laughter at the edge of her eyes. They stayed in derelict, nondescript motels. Meg bought Cindy a pair of silver shoes. Cindy bought Meg a dress that actually fit her hips. They were happy and guiltless together. Until the policeman comes into the bank and Cindy nearly drops her gun ( ... )

...I think I love you. Their respective backstories, the references to the original, the atmosphere, the language, the illustration...I cannot express in words how marvellous this is, and have too much pride and too little money to smash my keyboard in glee.

Yay! I was afraid since this prompt is kind of old and you were anon that you might not see that I'd filled this. I'm glad you did and that you enjoyed it! I'm especially glad you noticed so much of the stuff I tried to convey. Also, you might want to keep an eye on this prompt for the next month or so, I liked this universe so much I might write something else about it. ;)

ETA: Anything in particular you might want to see?

There's more coming! YES! No, I can't think of anything specific I'd like to see, but I'm sure anything you do will be pure gold.

I wrote the final part for this. Once I edit it I'll post it as a reply to the original prompt.

(A/N: This pair of scenes is shorter than the first fill, but I couldn't be done with this AU until I wrote them.)

Small Deaths Cindy knew it had to end eventually. Her life had been hard and broken like a bullet in bone, cold and lonely for far too long to pretend what she and Meg had together would carry them into their old age. They had their fans, everyone with the guts to pick up a BAR and take what the banks had stolen from them first had their fans, but they were two young girls. Pretty girls. It was different for them: all sex and patronization, all photography and eyes on their garters, all autographs and rumors. No one suspected how deep it went. No one looked at the way they spoke to each other, the way their eyes touched, and saw what was under the surface. Cindy almost wished they did ( ... )

Meg knew it had to end eventually. They had to keep moving: road to road, town to town, bed to bed. There was no resting, no settling down, and Meg laughed to remember she once thought herself used to it. It is easy to be used to a shiftless life when you're alone, when you restrain yourself to one night stands and petty thievery. Old dogs, new tricks. It made her uncomfortable to think how much had changed since she stopped in that run down diner. Cindy's body was as familiar to her as her own now, but the rooms they shared them in were always strange, always new. It felt wrong: an optical illusion, a picture made up of negative space, an impossible cube. If she was ever going to get a good night's sleep again, she'd have to warp the images of their relationship into cohesion ( ... )

I'm not the OP, but as a Jessie fangirl, I just want you to know that the appearance of Jessie (however brief) actually made me shout out. So, thanks for that. :)

Thanks! I was trying to figure out who Meg's sister should be, and as soon as I thought of Jessie everything fit into place.
