Frozen/How To Train Your Dragon
Post-Frozen, pre How To Train Your Dragon 2
Hiccup/Elsa friendship

Alternate History sort of thing where Vikings still exist past the Norman Conquest in 1066, but are a much smaller demographic as a result and at the time Frozen takes place, Vikings don’t live on Scandinavian mainland (Norway, Sweden, Finland, etc.) but rather live on small islands off the mainland and do their own thing. (Or whatever works for the author).

After the events of Frozen, and prior to the second HTTYD film (so, Hiccup’s in his very late teenage years), a contingent of Berk Vikings (Stoick, Hiccup, and other characters) and their dragons come to Arendelle to meet with Queen Elsa.

I most would like some platonic friendship bonding between Hiccup, Elsa, and Toothless. It’d be especially appreciated if there’s some juxtaposition of Elsa’s ice powers and Toothless’s firepower. Aside from that, it’s really up to the filler.

Bonus points for Anna getting a Terrible Terror.

It was probably not all that common for diplomatic meetings to involve several large barrels of fish and a strict ban on eels, flammable oils, and any sort of pointed object. It had taken quite a while to persuade the guards that they were not allowed anything with a sharp edge when they accompanied their Queen and Princess down to the docks.

It was Anna who put an end to it all. "I think the Queen is capable of looking after herself," she said, crossing her arms and tapping one foot. She gave them a vaguely disappointed look that made them, to a man, look embarrassed. A couple examined their feet. Elsa managed through her years od training to not laugh at their expressions, and counted it as a success on the whole.

Most of the visitors from Berk arrived by boat, and one was fished out of the water after something of a crash landing. Crash landing, that was, from dragon-back"Okay, okay," said the boy with the prosthetic lower leg and the smart-looking harness. Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, Elsa had been told, the son of the leader ( ... )

"Trained," he finished.

"There's nothing like flying," said Hiccup. Toothless was bounding around in the snow behind him enthusiastically, nosing into snowbanks and then shaking the snow off himself again. Hiccup was wearing a harness and holding a second one in his hands. "It is amazing."

Of the two guards accompanying them, one was looking dubious and the other was looking outright afraid of the dragons in the courtyard. Hiccup and Astrid had their dragons with them, whilst Elsa, Anna, and the Terror that seemed to have adopted Anna, were examining them.

Anna grabbed hold of her arm. Her eyes were glittering with mischief, and Elsa could guess exactly what was coming. "Come on! We have to!"

"Oh no," said Elsa. "No offence, but the dragons know them. We don't know how dangerous ( ... )

OP here!

Thank you so much!!

This is really great. I'm currently on a HTTYD-kick in a massive way (I need June to be here, like now, omg), so this is an extra special treat. It's really cute and sweet and a very fun read and Toothless is an adorable baby.

I loved the remark about Astrid being First Lady of Dragons, because yes, she very much is. :)

And oh my gosh, I loved the conversation about trolls, because yes, great. The Frozen-verse has trolls and HTTYD has mentioned trolls, so yes of course, perfect.

I bet the one that Snotlout was the one that had a crash landing, and fished out of the water. Hookfang does not listen to him, lol.

Thank you very much, again! I really appreciate it.

I actually only discovered HTTYD relatively recently (it was last of the 'Big Four' that I actually managed to watch) and Toothless is just... my cat. 100%. Bum wiggle and scampering and lip-licking and all. I've watched it so many times these last few months.

And TROLLS. Yes. I saw HTTYD after I'd seen Frozen, so I was like, "Sock? But trolls seem to think that humans should walk around naked! Or at least that Kristoff should... perverts..."

Hah! I didn't plan who fell in the water, but you're right, it was totally Snotlout.

The unholy offspring of lightning and death itself is a giant adorable cat with wings, heh.

It's a movie definitely worth rewatching a lot. It's so beautiful and touching. I could watch the short film Gift of the Night Fury like, everyday and just never tire of it. And the TV series is one of the most consistently good tv shows I've seen.

I also love that Hiccup's polite enough to not mention or be bothered by her ice powers acting up when she freaks out while flying on Toothless. You're such a prince, Hiccup Haddock.

And the comment about Fishlegs having eidetic memory is great. I headcanon that Hiccup has eidetic memory, but yeah, Fishlegs totally would, too.

Casually de-anons.

Oh my goodness, Toothless you are such a cat. Both that cat and Toothless are total dorks, haha.

Yes, do that. It's really great and fun to watch. 2 seasons and 40 episodes of six precious babies and their dragons dealing with post-movie Berk. Sometimes being reckless.

Hiccup's definitely a sweetie. And an adorable precious baby, who grows up into a rather attractive man in the sequel, heh.

Anna's screaming in glee instead of Elsa, lol. And apparently falling off dragons. That probably didn't deter her at all.

And yeah, considering the terrible weather on Berk, he's probably not phased by Elsa's ice powers. Maybe curious.

I have seen Hiccup's appearance in HTTYD 2 describing him as having "gone to the Neville Longbottom school of puberty", which... yes. I would have to agree. And Astrid is looking pretty hot in her poster as well, but that's probably only to be expected.

Anna would totally love dragons. And while Elsa has a mischevious streak (see: telling Weselton to dance with Anna, dragging Anna off ice-skating at the end) I don't see her being as gung-ho about things. Just... restrained enough not to scream.

Now I can picture Hiccup just saying dryly, "Are you sure you don't want to visit Berk? The weather could only really be improved."

My housemate is probably starting to get sick of, "Thank you for nothing, you useless reptile" whenever our cat is being annoying. I read somewhere that the voice actor ad-libbed the line, which just even more firmly cemented it as my favourite. It's just so wearyThe only problem I have writing HTTYD stuff is the word Berk. Yes, I know it essentially means dumbass nowadays. But it's short for Berkley Hunt which ( ... )

Yes, perfect explanation. Neville's school is a very good school. XD Or the Norse Gods decided the medal he deserved for surviving the events of the previous movie was going to be in the form of mastering puberty like a champ. Yep, Thor did it, hehe. (I also think Thor's partially responsible for Toothless ( ... )
