Even in the 1800s, it was quite common for betrothals to be arranged whilst the boy and girl were quite young. Were Elsa and/or Anna betrothed to boys, when they were children? What happened to those betrothals?

(Also, if you want lesbians, just pretend that gay marriage was legal and have one of them betrothed to a woman instead.)

It’s funny how subtle Anna and Kristoff think they are. With their held gazes, secret smiles, and their tendency to leave crowded rooms together (one at a time, of course). Oh, and their weekly “sleigh rides” up to North Mountain-yes, very innocuous. Never mind their mussed up hair, flushed cheeks, swollen mouths, and very much laced fingers upon their return, that was only due to the vigorous sleigh ride. Of courseGranted, out of courtesy itself, Elsa has often turned her gaze the other way and acted like nothing has happened. Gerda had taught both Elsa and Anna enough on how to protect themselves when engaging in matters of the flesh; she can only assume Kristoff had gotten the same conversation from his own Troll parents. Both of them know how to take care of themselves, know how to act around each other in public, so as not to attract whispers and scandal. Saves Elsa the trouble of getting involved ( ... )

Haha, I love the image of Anna and Kristoff totally failing at being subtle, and Elsa just shaking her head to herself. Marvellous.

The framing of this is so delicate and lovely, and even in this short bit you get a sense of Elsa's loss and of the romance of it all. So excited by this!

The first ball that Elsa attends is in celebration for her own seventeenth birthday. While her mother and father mingle with the nobles of Arendelle (as well as delegates from other nations) and Anna bounces all over the room with a wide smile, Elsa is left standing at the front of the ballroom in her modest black and green gown and blue gloves-and she is absolutely terrified.

“It’s just one night, Elsa,” she remembers her mother reassuring her with a warm smile. “Go out, dance, talk to people. Who knows? You might even meet someone special.”

Elsa casts a look around the room, and she shudders. I don’t want to meet anyone.

Just the thought of having someone so close, someone touching her-

Conceal it, don’t feel it, conceal, don’t feel, don’t feel-She has to shut her eyes and take a deep, shuddering breath. She should eat something, or perhaps get a drink. Anything warm enough to block the ice, at least for a little while ( ... )
