FROZEN [Spoilers], Anna/Hans anonymous February 22 2014, 21:29:08 UTC
(Reposted with fandom.)

Hans is genuinely every bit as bad as he is in canon...except for one thing. He really did fall in love with Anna and, as a result, turned his entire near-sociopathic, manipulative, generally diabolical brain towards the task of making Anna happy at any cost. If that means sparing Elsa and not becoming king, so be it. If it means covertly assassinating Elsa's political opponents so Anna isn't worried that her sister might be deposed, fair enough. He manages to keep this from Anna the whole time.
Bonus points for: - He really is that adorkable - but still evil.

First: your icon! Squee! Thank you so so much for comment and icon both!

And Hans is really something, isn't he? One of the slickest and best villains Disney has ever produced, I think, in his own way.

Elsa prayed that she was wrong about Hans. Anna had always been able to draw out the best in people while Elsa was left with the unenviable talent to see through to the characters they wished to hide. And Hans was hiding something ( ... )

“Then allow me to further enlighten you,” he began to pace. “Much like your own gifts, I struggled to control my condition earlier in life. For the first years of my existence, it seemed as if I could only reflect the worse traits in those around me. You cannot imagine how difficult and unpleasant that was for my family. Being in my company was to be in the company of the ugliest flaws of your own character. It is why several of my brothers pretended I was invisible for several years. It was preferable to confronting the worse of their own failings ( ... )

Holy shit, I just discovered the existence of this fic, and it is amazing. I love your take on the Elsa & Hans dynamic, how well they read each other, and the voice which you gave Hans here was absolutely wonderful. The discussion of his sociopathy/mental situation within the words that they had available of the time is absolutely fantastic and rang very true, and their agreement of "we will not be monsters" is chilling and beautiful both at the same time. Absolutely gorgeous.
