What happened to the lights?

They went out.

Why did they go out?

What does that matter, Boy? Do you know how to turn them back on?

...No, but it's spooky in here.

I know. I'm trying to fix that.

[Clopin sits in front of the Joe West fireplace with an old, tin box of flint and a few dry twigs from outside.

The Mouse, whenever he comes back, is not going to be happy with Clopins' redecorating. In the interest of his own comfort, Clopin had torn up most of the common room, piling up as much wood as he can find inside next to the fireplace because like hell he's going into the woods for kindling. There are home-bundled torches in vases and other non-flammabe containers from around the school. His puppet sits on the floor next to him to add to the conversation.

The wood catches. He carefully builds up the flame, feeding larger pieces of wood the stronger the flame gets. He doesn't have enough wood for a roaring fire, but there's a warm little hearth if anyone's cold in the building.]
