Your best bet would be to not live near the tourist area. You will have a longer drive to work, but the apartment prices in the area are awful.
A small, one bedroom near Disney goes for the same price as a three-bedroom apartment in other areas.

What would you consider 'other areas'? I don't know the surrounding areas outside of Disney. Could you give me some cities?

THANKS!

Well, for example, I live in Orlando proper, right near the airport. There's also a gagillion apartments near UCF, but I don't know what their prices are like...

You might also try posting to Orlando-specific communities.

Try the areas that are south of property going towards tampa.

Granted I live right behind property on 535 but it is a bit $$$'ish. Thank god for roommates.

Try the South Clermont Area AKA four corners alienhybrid62 September 24 2007, 06:34:49 UTC
Approximately 20 miles from Disney. Traffic flows nicely. This area is located west of Disney and is very affordable.

Also check out Sarah's place which is about one block north of Cagan Crossings.

BTW new zip code for this area is 34714.

Near Walmart Supercenter, Lowes, Walgreens, Publix, etc. Hope this helps.
