Hello all.... I know that I've been pretty nonexistant recently, but that is because basically my entire life has been sleep, work, eat, sleep, work, eat, with a little bit of school thrown in

The main problem I've noticed as someone not in the competition (and therefore, definitely not voting tactically) is that it seems that some of the mods want us to vote based on their opinion of a good or bad icon as opposed to our own opinion. If that's true, then what's the point in our voting at all? Everyone sees icons in a different way. Some people prefer quite sharp images, whereas others quite like the slightly blurred look. Some people like icons that use brushes and effects, some don't. The same goes for cropping, colouring, text... It's really all so subjective. I often see people who comment saying how much they love icons that I think are horrible, and vice versa

I understand entirely that choosing a worst icon and a best icon and all the other things that we do in voting communities like these is entirely subjective. However, there have been a few times where the voting has seemed just slightly odd, and not just to one or two mods, but to other people as well. Not necessarily always here, but in general, and I know sometimes in the wide world of cyberspace, you can pick up community members who WOULD vote tactically... Just like there are people that feel the need to steal other people's icon work and claim it as their own... I do not know if anyone here is voting tactically or why they would, just as I do not understand the purpose behind icon theft, but a little helpful reminder is always nice

This last LIMS voting I did vote for my favourite because I was going through my about 30 icon communities and didn't realize it was lims. So...ya, my bad last week.
I just wanted to let you know that even though I may not comment on every post or enter/vote in every challenge (mostly because you guys run on a different time zone to me: I was annoyed at myself for missing the start of LIMS due to time differences) I do keep up with the alot of things that go on in this community as a whole.
So, to you guys, I may not seem like an active member but I really do know what the jig is. Not trying to give you cheek, just don't throw me in the "non active" pile if I do try to give you input. :)
I dont understand how you being in a different time zone affect you not being able to enter? Each LIMS challenge is like 4 days long & the regular challenges lasted a week...
Ah, but you see, I made my icon and all and then had a problem getting my computer to connect to the internet. I thought "Oh it's okay, I've still got x amount of hours left to post it" when I really didn't due to the time differences and all.
Yes, it was my screw up with the conversion of it all, hence my be being annoyed at myself. I rarely miss the posting of the challenges it's the time converting that gets me. My tiny brain can only take so much.
Sorry, I realise now how that earlier commnet made little sense. But I suppose this one is no better. XD

But yeah, that's what I'm afraid has been happening... It's easy to get lost and confused and accidentally check the wrong thing!
