Summary: Provisional Venue
As per previous posts [1, 2], we have confirmation of our booking at the Arches for Friday 27th August, based on the following e-mail:

As per my previous emails I would like to confirm Friday 27th August for the
hire of Arches 1 & 2 for a Venetian Masked Ball. At present I have a number of
details to confirm but the broad shape of the event is as follows, obviously
subject to negotiation with you and your colleagues:
Event will start between 8pm and 9pm, running through until 3am, and will
consist of three or four live bands interspersed with sets from a handful of
DJs. Target audience will be the alternative/gothic scene and dress code will
be high gothic formalwear or some variation there of. Bar, cloakroom and
security staff will be provided by you; door staff and ticketing by us
(optionally we will also ask if you can supply us with a sound engineer; could
you provide us with an separate estimate for the cost).
You expressed some concern with the crowd, I suspect from unfamiliarity, and
asked for references to the character of the scene. Probably the best reference
I can give you is for Plum Promotions, who hire out The Water
Rats to host a similar event, "B-Movie", on a
once-monthly basis: their number is [phone number] and if you ask for [promoter],
he will be quite happy to provide you with information about the crowd.
Please let me know if you requre anything further at this time and when you will
be able to confirm whether or not we have a booking for the date in question.

They will be sending me a draft contract, hopefully in an electronic form.
Expect a sudden flurry of activity in terms of organisation, together with requests for people to delegate things to and advice on "exactly how one goes about X". Feel free to start pimping the date to interested friends, with ticketing and line-up details to be announced.
