What is the story behind the "Jesus is my Homeboy" shirts? was it just another quirky shirt design that any Urban Outfitters would carry that a celebrity caught on and got everyone onto?

I've seen some really tasteless pro-Jesus shirts made sincerely. There used to be a cheap tshirt shop on El Camino... and they had stuff like AIR JESUS with the NBA shadow of Jesus flying.

So I think it started out for real, then ironic, now it's... somewhere inbetween

I dont know why but a shirt like that seems something more of an emo thing. Or maybe im getting two different groups mixed up.
