As an ongoing attempt to keep some sort of documentation of things happening in my life (idea shamelessly stolen from my best friend):

How did you like The Bean Trees? I remember reading it but it got overshadowed by the other book she wrote ... Poisonwood Bible, I think? I recommend that one, if you haven't read it already.

I was thinking about reading Secret Life of Bees--would you recommend it?

i love everything by barbara kingsolver. i would especially recommend Animal Dreams, but anything she writes is generally beautiful and utterly fantastic. The Bean Trees is no exception. i will remember to check out Poisonwood Bible!

i liked The Secret Life of Bees! i was reading it in between assigned school reading so i think that made it more enjoyable -- it's not tolstoy or anything (especially since it's from the point of view of a fourteen-year-old), but i think it's worth reading.

i have been unsuccessfully trying to get everyone i know to read East of Eden because it is basically my favorite book in the entire universe right now, and like my P&R flailing, it has involved a great deal of capslock and guilt-tripping: tl;dr, resounding YES, East of Eden is the greatest thing ever.

it was beyond adorable aslkfj. callan mcauliffe is too cute for words. iz is actually like 80% of the reason i watched it, since i usually don't watch the movies my dad rents but she recommended Flipped in particular and i'm glad i watched it!

YES, he is adorable. And his scenes together with the girl are so sweet. :D He's the only reason I loved I Am Number Four more than I should. XD

but i kind of liked Dubliners! i can't speak for his novels, though. also allow me to remind you for a moment that dickens exists, and that an over-liberal use of commas is much worse than any waxing eloquent that joyce could come up with. if you want real pain, have at Great Expectations
