Dark and beautiful. I haven't read the book series, and I don't particularly want to now, because I know I'll be disappointed; there's no way the plot of the books could be better than the plot of this story. My favorite part, in addition to the incredibly well-done ending, was when Yokoyma tells Subaru: "you've gotten attached." I just loved that line, how heavy it was in its succinctness.

Glad you liked this :D Also interesting how you liked that sentence for Yoko, because I don't remember thinking much when I wrote it at all xD

But please, do read the book series if you have the chance! They're amazing (and so much better than anything I could write!). Of course, as young adult books, there are certain places they can't go (but not many!), and it's in the POV of a teenage girl so that might turn some people away. But otherwise the background and action are both incredibly detailed and reading them was such an exciting experience.

Thank you for commenting! I like to think that they're all a little broken by the end, which is what drawls them together :D Yasu's still more or less a kid at the beginning, and...heh, in contrast to his before!self, he has to change, or it'd just be creepy xDD

I've never read these books, but DO WANT.

Especially if they're anything like this because wow this was awesome. Your writing is impressive and the characters are great, both in the universe and as themselves on top of it and my stomach was churning and I was so excited.

So, yeah. ♥.

The books are so much better! Aside from being written in first person perspective (from a teenage girl's perspective), which some people find difficult to get into, there's a lot more action and the world-building is very detailed. I kept needing to get to the next part because it's hard to predict where the author wants to go and it was such an exciting read.

Glad you liked this ♥♥

Oh man, I just read the first book in the series. So when I saw this, I was SO excited!!

I think you did an amazing job taking on the spirit of the Hunger Games and putting it in your own writing. The characterization of Subaru, Yasu and the others seemed dead on, especially if you take into account what living in that type of world might have changed about those characteristics.

You can feel the pain in Subaru's words about coaching this tribute. And Yoko. Poor Yoko. He doesn't even feel anything anymore about them...

Sad, but so well done!

The second book's even better (in my opinion anyway)! Definitely go check it out too.

I just love imagining what the tributes do after they win their games. It's fascinating because we know that the games have been going on for years and District 12 is a special case with only one Victor. I'm just so curious about all the past Victors and what their stories might have been!

Thanks for reading :D
