It's time, everyone. (And speaking of time, we are insanely sorry for the wtf hour this is going up at.) The log's going up over on
dissideo_logs as soon as we throw this up over here, so read up and head on over to the first official battle in the game. (Is that a trumpet fanfare I hear~?)
Here's how the log's going down:
This is a battleground. Battlegrounds typically wind up with only the barest sense of organization as it is. So keeping things organized is pretty much a moot point. As such, the log will be pretty much a free for all.
Try to keep in mind things like...
Where your character is throughout the battle. (Do they start in the back but move to the frontlines? Do they hang around the back the whole time? Do they make a run for the crystal?)
Your character's state from previous face-offs. (Unless they're buddy-buddy with a healer, they probably won't have the time or ability to rest/heal before they have to fight someone else.)
How much time your character spends fighting each person. (The battle itself will be around twelve in-game hours, though OOCly you have a few days to get threads wrapped up. If your character spends half of that in one face-off, that'll drastically lessen the amount of people they'd be able to encounter otherwise.)
With those things in mind, you're basically free to do whatever you see fit to do.
As far as technical aspects go, the log format will be posted in a note on the log itself. For timing, there's going to be a bit of a discrepancy between real life and in-game. That being, we're devoting the next five days (until Tuesday the 20th) entirely to the log, while it'll only last twelve hours in-game.
The mods will be keeping an eye on which side's winning, and will be keeping a tally of face-offs won by each team. As such, if Monday rolls around and things still aren't wrapping up in your recent thread, please do the mods a favor and leave a note here or even in the thread letting us know who winds up winning. If you don't, the match won't be counted, and we can't have that now can we?
FAQ
- Wait, so all we get to do for five days is battle in this one silly log?
Yes and no.
Yes: Once characters appear on the battlefield, they will lose access to their individual crystals. They just... aren't on the battlefield with them. Therefore, the only thing the characters can do is fight in the battle.
No: If you're so desperately bored that you can't settle for just what the log is offering you, go ahead and post via the crystals. However, it will have to be backdated to before the battle, so please be kind and label whereabouts in time it's located. However, we'd really appreciate that this be kept to a necessary minimum? Please and thank you. :)
- And what's gotta be done by Tuesday?
The mods have to know the winners to your character's threads by Tuesday at 11:59 PM EST. The threads DO NOT have to be done by then; you can thread 'till the cows come home, as long as we know the eventual winner on time.
- So what if all my threads are done before Tuesday?
Well, you can always start a new one, even among allies. Otherwise, I'm sorry but it's a bit of a waiting game this time around, because not even the mods know what the outcome is going to be until Tuesday, and therefore, not even the mods know how the characters will be positively or adversely affected by Cosmos and Chaos until then.
- So... not all of the threads have to be about battling?
I'd say about 90% of them should be, but there will inevitably be some tending to the wounded and some makeshift strategizing. There shouldn't be any sitting around and chatting, though, for sure.
- Now about the 'points' thing... How do we know that's gonna wind up tallied fair?
The only difficulty there is making sure everyone fights fair. We'll be doing our best to make sure that (as an example) someone doesn't get a deep wound in one thread and then go on to effortlessly fight ten other people. There'll be a degree of leniency of course, because utter realism would be boring after a bit, but if someone's abusing it, their points might not count for their side. If you see someone drastically abusing it, toss one of us an IM (amxire or erinilliana) and we'll look into it.
- W-what?! What if my character really can power through ten fights with a fatal wound?
Like I said, we'll look into it. It's a case-by-case basis. If your character is really physically able to do so, by all means, but know that we're trying to make this fight fair for everyone. Bottom line is: don't godmode or powerplay, times ten.
- So how many people can my character fight?
We initially said try not to fight more than 3. However, we've since changed that. Your character can fight as many fights as they'd realistically have the time and energy to handle. However, only the first three battles count for gamepoints, so you don't feel pressed to have your characters fight a billion and ten people for extra points.
- And what if my character's heading for the crystal?
If your character was chosen: Be sure you're near the crystal at the end of the battle, so that whichever side has the most points in the end can realistically say they nabbed it. Other than that, just act like a normal fighter.
If your character wasn't chosen, but you want a failed crystal attempt: Just... act like a normal fighter. Try to sneak your way in or blast your way in, whatever your character would realistically do. Just be sure there's something or someone to stop them.
- Any closing statements?
Whether you win or lose doesn't exactly matter so much, OOCly. To the characters, it matters for sure, but things will be just as interesting for the winning and losing side. So don't stress over it, alright? :)
A reminder! Log's up over here.
